Anyone else feel sad

Yeh it’s just a footy game.
But after over 40 years as a supporter I feel disheartened.
No effort or belief and I am in Qld watching this horrible performance.
Will never give up on my team....sad thing is they have given up on me.

Agree with your thoughts, but more believe it has something to do with the game itself. The NRL today has all the authenticity of WWF or UFC. Manufactured draws, salary caps, TPA's. It's all just crap to make sure that every club, every supporter gets a turn. I miss the days of dominant teams that were allowed to make their mark in history. Of perennial losers like the Bears who brought something to the competition through their own ineptness. I miss footy cards imbued with the smell of bubblegum, cardboard corner posts, around the ground score updates that covered all the other games that had started at 3.00pm that Sunday afternoon. Am I a fossil? Yes, but god I miss those days.

I know it's just a game but gee it's tough to watch. The last few years have been horrible for us fans. Nrl against us but the Manly of old don't seem to be there. We use to be a club that would stick it to anyone that had it in for us. It's more the inconsistency that annoys the **** out of me.

Today we got belted by a team who were near perfect for 40 minutes, their control was our envy!! We helped them a lot with dropped balls and allowing 3 tries to their halves that all should have been prevented. They killed us with speed, we were made to look sooo pedestrian by them. I have seen worse defeats but this ranks as a bad one in a big way!! Confidence is a huge thing, the Tigers are oozing it and we are struggling. It is only a quarter of the way through the season, its obvious to me that we are going to struggle to make the 8, I would like to see Barrett be brave and promote youth and inject some enthusiasm into the team!!

sad, no, our team consists of 2 x Backwards (can't call them forwards) a hooker (that would have made better ground up the cross) 2 x Second row Backwards, alock(with no key) a halfback ( well named) a 9/16 cause he's no where near a 5/8th 2 x centre's (that are off centre) 2 x wingers (who pretend there turnstiles) and a fullback (who's either full on or full off)...So sad ,no, Really Pissed off, you better believe it..!!!

Gutted because it's confirmed we are no chance for top 4 and very little chance of top 8. Bottom 4 most likely and with Parra likely to turn things around we look likely for bottom 2.

I heard an interview with J Thompson during the week leading up to Tigers game and when asked what he thought was the reason for the teams inconsistency he replied ( words to the effect of ) there is no doubt this club is brimming with talent I just think they sometimes forget they have to actually apply themselves to win, it just doesn't happen.

As a former coach (of another code, please don't judge) I recognise that it's Barrett's job as coach to work out how he is going to get the team to perform better week in week out. He does have the talent, I believe he can find the answer, I just hope he finds it sooner rather than later.

Manly have been a flat wicket momentum swing performer for some time now, lacking a tough resilient mindset---let me rephrase that "resilient in patches but unable to sustain for long periods to have true worth/substance"

The big warning was earlier in the week when Joel Thompson was interviewed, i recall him replying something along the lines of "we know where the issue is"---when you hear players reply in such a manner it comes across as "knowing where the problem/s lie but we really have no idea how to instill/rectify in our performances but hard work should do it"

I mean look at the first few tackles of the game, good leg drive and shoulders into the tackles, looking like they are up for the challenge then a late penalty in the tackle count and it is like "oh fark all that effort went to waste stuff this".

A good mindset is not about promoting all the right one liners to the public or looking ready when the tank is fresh, it shows when the chips are down when the tank is empty yet you keep digging in.

Having the right mindset is more than sounding wise and ready for the challenge when the mic is in front of you---that is the easy part.

It is not about "playing for each other" it is about every player having pride in their own performance, when you have that you don't need to phrase it as "playing for each other" because the right mindset is at the core of each individual in the team.

The Proud and Passionate always feel the pain from a Manly team struggling .
The Passionate never give up on their team and the Proud are patient knowing that the mighty Sea eagle will become a great force once again as we continue to rebuild and Conquer with a Competent and Consistent performing players .
