Look at the crowds, most standing. These days apparently people only turn up if there is shelter, a padded seat and half-time entertainment.
Note to NRL: It's the quality of the football, not the quality of the stadiums, you numbskulls.

Couldn't resist a second look at that and two things stood out for me.
One the clear footage.
They have done a great job preserving that.
And that 1st time round I missed our very own johnny bliss in action.
I have read a lot about him and can see why he was such an exciting player.

I heard an interview with a player and for the life of me can't remember who, but he played in the 60s and 70s and could barely afford to go on a kangaroo tour, but did.
He ultimately got sacked from his job.
It was the same with cricketers, pre Packer era, and is hard to believe these days.
Players today from all codes should be made to research the careers of these champions of prior eras and appreciate those who dug the well of which they now abundantly drink.

The best thing about rugby league in the 1940s was the birth of a NSWRFL club based at Brookvale on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
