Aloiai Gone

Stain George have been the desperados of the player market for years, signing the likes of Kyle Flanagan, Lachlan Illias, amongst other cast offs…basically, they’ve been prepared to take whatever they can get…and they don’t want David Klemmer?! Surely that speaks volumes.

The other part I don’t get…do Seibs and his team watch the games? Slow forwards are basically the Achilles Heel of the also rans in the competition. They’d be better off putting some of the club’s wingers into the forwards than expecting the likes of Klemmer to make an impact in the modern game…he is SLOW!

He’s also graduated into one of those useless players that yells when the opposition makes an error; a clear sign that enthusiasm is the only contribution they can make to their team’s performance.

This is a bit of a D- question but I was wondering so, why not?

Has Aloaia been seen around the club since his injury? I've seen everyone else who's been out long term, either in the dugoutty thing or in club vids in the gym or at jersey presentations etc., but no Aloaia?

I've never really felt he was all that invested in the club, maybe I'm wrong? Then again, I've had so little investment in him that I've still had to look up his name (twice) to check the spelling🙄

Not much

Let’s hope that means he is gone and we’ve got the medical retirement. I’ve always been underwhelmed by his contribution. I reckon you could count on one hand the number of games where he has made an impact. I’d like think his money could be better spent elsewhere.

People dismiss his contributions because they don’t like him personally but he has been a good prop for us & we’ve missed him a lot this year. Averaged over 100 run metres a game & over 95% tackle efficiency in his 5 years here. The positive impact on the younger Polynesian players also can’t be understated.

He has been very unlucky with injuries, which have absolutely caught up with him. His personal toughness and commitment really cannot be questioned. At his best he would deliberately go looking for opposition forward leaders and try to establish dominance over them. We badly miss that kind of energy and physical presence now, I would guess that Lodge is probably currently our best for that - and I am not convinced that is saying a lot.

I believe you mean O - sh - ay O - l - ay?

I'm still baffled as to how on earth that mispronounciation even occured. Vlandys found a way to stuff it up even more than Josh Aioli. Calling him Aioli would've been more accurate...
You mean Josh:

Has it really been five years? Feels like he's played about 15 games for us in that entire period. Unavailability has been his main problem. Injuries, particularly that troublesome shoulder, have killed his career. He's like the forward version of Tom, only nowhere near as good - although the same can be said of Paseka. Yes, he's played some great games for us, but they've been too few and too far between, so it's hard to see how we've got much value for our money.

The fact that he was billed as our AFB replacement never helped his cause either. He was never going to replace a player like Fonua-Blake, although I have to say he did at least try to be aggressive and a leader on the field, which isn't something you can accuse the bulk of our forward pack of. But again, the injuries cruelled him at every turn.
