Alfred

I’m back of Cabarita and it’s been pretty consistent the wind, pretty crazy last night. Our jacaranda tree got smoked near the chook pen. Spent most of the day clearing fallen trees as we are on acreage. No power, phone service or internet since yesterday, but we have star link which has been the only way to keep in contact, and the generator going.

No power for 24 hours. (Kingscliff) Expecting water to go next. Running a generator a few hours each day only. Looking forward to a big Manly win tomorrow night. Go Manly

We used to have property along wommin bay road, so there's always a tug of nostalgia when someone mentions they are from there.

I also remember the power going out whenever someone sneezed at a power line - it was useless and thank goodness for old people. when the power company tried to say it didn't happen, one came out with the 40 times in 6 months that it did!

Of course back then the beach was huuuuuuge.

I'm glad you seem prepared! 🙂

Smashed by some heavy winds and rain from around 11pm last night but all good where I am so far in north suburbs of Bris. No lost power (yet) and just a bit blowy and drizzly. Can actually hear birds chirping. Assume that’s a positive sign. Feel for those on Goldy and northern nsw. Hang in folks and hoping power back on soon.

Byron beach erosion and trees down everywhere - this one in Ocean Shores yesterday, just trees down and part of driveway washed away for me ---- very thankful it is now becoming a rain derpression - although winds are still gusting up to 90 kph here at my place
.
Go Manly give us a great win over the Cowthings

Hey GC Manly fans here with no power and internet. Anyone know if any local clubs/pubs near Mermaid still open to watch the game?

Hi all , no power ,phone , internet since 11pm.

Alfie came straight at us , made landfall over Stradbroke Island which is straight across from where I live , we had the eye ( a big lull for about 20 minutes ) go over around midnight.

Then it did a right hand turn and went north so we copped the nasty tail.

No damage , **** loads of rain ( and still coming down ).

Coming to you via my Starlink system run by a little generator, couldn’t miss the game.

I’ll just be watching in the phone.

Boys did the job mate. Hope you caught it and enjoyed. My place has been blowing a gale since kickoff. Weird, hardly any wind all day and now it’s ripping through again and rain!

Do you think that the triathlon will still be on at Kingscliff?
Should be ok by then. But if the council doesnt fix the roads and clear the debris, I would suggest the competitors use mountain bikes instead of racing bikes. The water quality for the swim leg will definitely be questionable though. Its a lovely color of chocolate brown right now.
