Ageing players

Journey Man
A lot has been written about this. Hands up who felt stronger at 30 than you did at 21? I know I did (although a little off the pace now I'm 44). My point is that our forwards, along with Jamie and Brett etc, who are 28 plus, would be pretty formidable to your average 20 year old player. And I think with the manly training under Donny singe that they know how to conserve energy and peak when it counts. The Ageing roster crap from the tele etc is just wishful thinking.

Having played high level hockey all my life, the only difference between playing every Saturday in my early 20's to when I was 30 was I was hungover a lot less.

We have to be careful as it's only early days. Let's wait until July and see where this thread has headed. The weekly contact is immense.

Yep. Not just be careful. Let's go the whole hog and full-on worry and fret about this.

That should help, eh Daz? 🙂

'Tis incredible how much you can 'age' in 6 months!

In September 2012 we were one game off missing the GF. Six months later we have an 'old' playing roster.

Like what is a couple of years, seriously. If you are 29 or 31 not much difference - despite being stigmatised as being on the wrong side of 30.

If the body is fit, mind is still competitive and the enthusiasm is there, with a will to win then all this "aging roster" stuff means nothing.

Just look at the oldest player in the gamea true Manly man (and now export). The Beaver - ready to turn 40 !!!!
