PONTIAN SEA EAGLE
Bencher
I don’t understand what we’re all weening about most of us on here had us finishing 11/12th Anyway.
Oh no. Difficult to praise a loss. However, once again, the great disappointments were no successful attacking options when Manly are in the opposition 20 and the defence when Kelma, Sipley and Schuster are next to each other. The bench forwards let us down and if I remember correctly, that's where NQ got us.Is this where we start praising aspects of losing, again? Hahaha
This is why Kelma was an odd recruitment. A left second rower that is big, has quite good ball skills and can be a threat in attack. We don't have enough mobility in the pack. Bully is an exception, as is Burbo in the rare times he is not injured. Adding Lodge is just adding another laborious forward.
Bayley Sironen is off contract this year. He would add a bit more starch to the pack and offer more workload imo. We need Croker to do less tackling and have the middles do more of the work. This is why Kelma was an odd recruitment. A left second rower that is big, has quite good ball skills and can be a threat in attack.
But we already had a bloke like that as our right second rower! Traditionally a side would like to have one of those and balance that with a tough tackling 80 minute player with good speed on the other side. Bull has been tried in that role but he's not a second rower and not really a tough tackler either, though his defence is OK in the middle.
At least Haumole now seems to be able to play 80 minutes, which helps.
But the pack balance doesn't look right. Too big, not mobile enough. What kind of role do we even want from a lock for example? We've tried several but none with any pace.
(Also we need a second dummy half with a bit of attack, whether by running or smarts, but of course this has only been noticed by almost every ST poster for the last 2 years so there must be something the real experts know that we sausage roll eaters fail to understand.)
Schu is gonna play 13 and ball play in the middle.Hmm…. Not really different for mine. My disappointment is watching them each week, waiting for the inevitable, momentum killing f#€k up. Other teams can make errors and there’s the sense that, they’ll just create more opportunities.
Yes they hung in there but at 6-13 midway thru the 2nd half, you simply can’t give up a soft try up the middle. Then all the possession they had in the last 10mins, NQ just soaked it up. No depth or continuity in attack, just simple one out hit up’s .
Hopefully when Brooks plays at #6 and Schuy in the #12, plus Tom back, we’ll look better 🤞
Fixed itHow good to wake up Sunday in mid JUNE knowing we are fuked again with no hope. I know we all knew it was coming but the confirmation when it's a packed home game and we offer up very little is just dogsh*t.
You mean March !!!!Fixed it

Our lack of a specialist dummy half for so many years is one of our biggest problems, for some reason the powers that be seem to have decided that its not a necessity to have one, every year I go into the off season hoping there's an announcement to come regarding the addition of a specialist 9 but sadly it never comes, no offence to Froggy and I'm also aware that we have multiple problems but dummy half is the first place I'd be looking to shore upThis is why Kelma was an odd recruitment. Did not know he was one of ours… that is VERY depressing as I reckon he is a ripper…A guy like Jacob Preston perhaps?
Another precious junior pissed away.
Even when Turbo is on the park, we are only a chance of barely making the eight. We are no where near a top 6 side. Our current team is built around turbo - when he does not play it is clear we do not have enough threat on the park
That is the decision that was taken and why we are one chipped toe nail away at all times from being an outsider
