NRL boss Todd Greenberg has confirmed for the first time that a ninth rugby league Immortal will be chosen in 2018 — the first since the game’s governing body bought the intellectual property for the concept.

Speaking at the Courier-Mail newspaper’s NRL season launch, Greenberg said a new player would be inducted for the first time since 2012, when Andrew Johns was unveiled as the eighth Immortal.

Hopefully Norm Provan while he is still around to celebrate it. But knowing the NRL it'll probably be Beau Ryan so they can claim the publicity $ from mentions on 9 to make taking over the concept profitable.

I was going to start a poll on this but yes I agree Norm Provan whilst he’s still alive.

Almost a shoe in though that it will be either Lockyer or Meninga.

In fact the next 4 or 5 will all be Queenslanders , and in no special order

Lockyer
Meninga
Thurston
Smith

Then you can bet one or both Slater / Cronk will be in the mix.

Can’t see too many from NSW getting a gong in the next decade or two.
