Mata has put a thread over on MSE asking who would win b/w the '96 and '06 Manly teams. The answer is obvious - '96 team. The simplest way to look at it is to ask who from the '06 team would start in the '96 team? Answer: only one - Ben Kennedy. The '96 team's defence would just be too good.

and i think Bell would be on par with Hill/Innes

Stewy may also have pushed for a wing spot

Obviously Beaver doesn't count, because he already IS in the '96 team. Bell is on par with Tezza and Innes in attack, but I don't think so in defence (Innes was a superb defender). Stewy would be hard-placed to dislodge the trio of Hoppa, Hancock and Moore on the wing.
