3 Favourite Current Manly players

Chez - I think he will be around for 2 more years
Oka - I had my doubts he could get the fitness level's needed for a 80min back row but he has worked very hard
Jake and Turbo - hope they both get a grand final win before they finish

Turbo: Will go down as one of the greats to play for the club, have not seen a player dominate the game like Turbo did in 2021.

Guaca: Exciting to watch his career unfold.

Tent: Destructive ball runner, hopefully he has a big few years ahead of him.

Hoppa: Special generational player.

DCE , we are so lucky to have a person of his calibre as a one club player. Will go down as one of the absolute greats of our club and the game itself.

Jurbo, yeah he’s not quite the player he once was but the passion he holds for our club is unsurpassed, he literally bleeds maroon & white.

Turbo , oh how I wish for us ( but most of all him ) that he could have one complete injury free season. We play better when he’s firing and struggle when he’s off. Let’s have our fingers crossed 🤞 that 2025 is that year.

My one wish , is that these three win a premiership together , if any players deserve it , it’s them.

I know it’s very doubtful , but we can live in hope I guess.

Its amazing (well maybe not) how much form dictates how much some fans flock to players.

You could have a player who has given a decade to the club, pours everything he can into the club, loves the club above all else and has played at the highest level for the club, but that player will be unsurped by many for a rookie with 10 good games.

Not saying its right or wrong but thats why I get less stressed about players not showing loyalty, look after yourself because the clubs and fans will drop you in an instant.

I hear what you are saying in regards to loyalty, but this is just picking 3 fav players, doesnt mean we may not like 24 players out of the squad of 30.

Look at DCE and Garrick who seem to be the most polarizing, some love them, some dont.....and that is fine.

I still love Jake, but something needs to happen in the way he plays or is positioned in the team, that is hurting him and the effectiveness we know he can deliver. At the moment he has turned into Fatty Vautin, just a tackling machine who was once an attacking gun.

I liked DCE early in his career, I find him polarizing now, not because of what fans or previous manly players say, i find his football frustrating. A mix between brilliant and indifferent. I just want to see him more consistently take control of the team and game, rather than just pockets of brilliance, 40/20's and clutch field goals. I'd take strong level of consistency over what he has been delivering, and I think DCE playing with more consistency rather than off the cuff brilliance at times, would benefit the team more also.

This is hard to say. I don't look at our current lineup with the love and admiration I've had for those players in the great 70s era Wombat , Igor, Bozo , Martin, Thomo , Gibbsy , the 87 and 96 players like Cliffy , Fatty, Des, Crusher, Snoz , Tooves. Beaver. Then that great era 2006-2013. Snake , Gift , Choc , Foz, Killer, Matai. Win a premiership I might change my mind on the current crop.

I know how you feel. I enjoyed the park football style at Brookie, sitting on the hill 20 metres north and watching my boyhood favourites of late 60s. Bob Batty, the Yakich brothers, Ian Martin, Billy Bradstreet, Cranky Frank Stanton, Les Hannigan, Alec Tennant, Pogo Morgan, Herman Hamilton, Ken Day, Mick Veivers, John McDonald, Fred Jones and a young star from Wollongong, Bob Fulton and youngster from the Central Coast Graeme Eadie, and the emerging hard man Randall. The 60s, pre Premiership 70s crop, though yet to win a premiership and referred to as the Bridesmaids still stir my memory, more than today's stars.

Brooks (and DCE) go missing when our forwards go missing and they don't get clean quick ball.. Which is just a little too often, but hopefully will improve.

You just described about 95% of halves when their forwards get beaten.

Halves may often get the accolades as the best players, the play makers. But without the forwards they're virtually powerless. Even the likes of Johns, Thurston and Cronk looked like chumps whenever they played behind a beaten pack.

Now, onto the thread subject matter.

My current favourite player, who is also my most frustrating and you'll immediately know why when I say his name ... is Turbo. When he is fit and in form he is easily the best fullback in rugby league bar none, if not the best player in the game. But there lies the frustration - "when he is fit". That intercept run last week for the Kangaroos, and his game overall (for mine Mal had him playing a roving role like Freddie mostly had him doing for NSW).....we haven't seen near enough of that Turbo since 2021.

Being an old front rower myself, I'm also kinda partial to Taniela Paseka too. I think that he has so much potential to dominate if he ever put his mind to it. We call Olakau'atu a Beast yet Paseka is even bigger than Haumole!!! Maybe now that Paseka's gotten international selection for Tonga we'll start to see more consistency in his game. I hope so.

As for the 3rd....TBH I really don't know.
