Garrick is one of our best players. He is a good defender on the wing, dce sucks at defence. Garrick makes line breaks can jump for tries unlike saab he can stand up his man just by running around them and with good foot work. The guys a real footballer and gives his all every game. I've never heard of willet or Wilson. Can they do what Garrick can do? Can they kick goals? Garrick in a storm or panthers side would go to another level. We should have enough money to buy a few good players... our biggest problem is Jake and then Saab. Eating up money and giving little in return. At least Garrick gives back !

One this Wilson will give you is kick return metres.

By my eye test anyway.

And he is not bad out of yardage he's a very strong runner of the football dunno who you've been watching. He is also one of our all time top point scorers 3rd on the list.

Every winger should be good at finishing tries. Blake Wilson is a good player, everytime he has had to step up he has and has played well. He is NRL quality. Nav Willett is one of the most highly touted wingers coming through the grades. Garrick is the leading points scorer because he has played in a great attacking team and seen heaps of ball go his way, and then kicked goals. We have signed one of the best goal kickers in the comp, so that isn’t a big need anymore. Willett or Wilson could definitely score the tries that Garrick does and defend better. Garricks money could lure us a big forward signing which is what we need to compete for a title.

Not too sure how Willet would go defensively and under pressure at a i st grade level but like Saab , could well be a bit of a weapon leaping for well placed bombs on an opposition's tryline
Seemed to be lacking a bit prevailance wise with attacking kicks to the wings last season [ well just my perception ] but Saab missed quite a few games as well ,
Not that , that play should have exclusively revolved around his presence
Wilson is just a good all round footy player and just seemed to drop down a bit on the Dogs wing pecking order when they went for real physical types there
Hardly that Wilson is not robust enough but that recent Dogs wing pairing , certainly big, solid units

Anyone that says Garrick is poor from yardage, must not have watched him in 2025.

It was definitely a weakness of his when he first hit the scene. He was often rag dolled.

But the guy is a pure professional and has worked hard on his game

This year, i would say he was pretty good at bringing the ball off our line and in general play. That's a subjective opinion of course, but it is something that i have monitored closely each year from Garrick.

I never said anything about finishing tries. He scores tries lots would fk up, the guy is very strong. I'm happy to have a good kicker if Fogarty goes down. I know who your talking about now, Wilson is an average player at best nowhere near Garricks calibre IMHO. We should get rid of Saab he is terrible has nothing but speed. Wilson for Saab is a good comparison as Saab is average as well.

Ye its like old mate is thinking of rag dolled Reuben. That was years ago he's about 100kgs now and usually finds his front. His speed, size and manoeuvrability are all great assets along with his skill and determination. Guys, definitely a keeper and not easily replaced

A mate played in some NRL golf day recently and was paired with DCE & Garrick. Despite being a parra supporter he said they were both legends and couldnt have been nicer. They were reasonably open about their futures. He said he wouldnt be at all surprised if Cherry hangs up his boots. He also said garrick was in talks with parra and already had several meetings with ryles.

I think no, can talk all you want - just no "formal offer" can be tabled until the Nov 1 prior to your contract expiring is the way l understand it.

When think about it, how absurd to not be able to fit a guy like Garrick under the cap?! Every other strong club seems to be able to find the coin to keep the decent first graders that are a rung below the Origin stars. Garrick is just a good solid first grader and is not a marquee signing for a club. Parra can go and buy Lomax and Brisbane and go and buy Hunt (both Origin players), and we can’t hold onto Garrick?

Agree, has shown he can cover 1-5 very well and kicks goals.
Why we'd hang onto Saab (who can only play wing) and potentially lose this guy is beyond me.

Because you’re allowed to discuss, you just can’t formally offer them a contract or entice them to break a current contract. There’s no rule to stop discussions from happening.

Yeah Saab isn’t good at anything besides being fast
