2026 recruitment & retention

What's this crap I heard about Wilson the winger from the dogs and Turpin coming to Manly? FMD is this the sort of signings we are destined for?

Willet is ready to go Faulolo and Talau are first graders, hopefully this means Garrick is pissing off.

But Turpin is three years ago's man.

Give Gordy a proper go and don't make him feel like he is playing for a spot. It's clear he needs the confidence of being told the jumper is his for good but the fecking autistic coach couldn't read 'Wher's Spot?' let alone a bunch of adult men playing a man's game.

Simpkin has reached his ceiling and it's the ten foot one you go for on the Metricon Homes package when you can't stretch for the twelve.
If Simpkin is the 10' ceiling Gordon is the 8' ceiling

Isn’t Lodge being upgraded to top 30 next year? But agree, hard to fathom how we seem perpetually unable to free up cap space, especially when you watch teams like the bulldogs effectively turnover their entire roster in the space of a couple of years.
He's unsigned for next year. I'd prefer to keep it that way. He's been meh.

Give a couple examples then that are off contract like I said… it’s all good & fun naming young players that would improve the team but if they are signed long term it’s pointless mentioning them like you’ve done with Fatialofa.
Yeah I just saw Fatialofa got signed up. Toby Crosby still available, and I would think others in that squad still available

U cannot judge a player after 1 game in 6months than another game in 4months. Wasn't he the captain or best player in our lower grade, not sure just saying???
Sure, but I'm just calling it as I see it. Not only on his first grade appearences but also what I've see in lower grades.

Love the charisma but just don't see it as a first grader

The Nein commentator said Easts have debuted eight players in First Grade this season. Eight!
We have debuted none (if my memory is correct)
What a damning endictment of a safety-first coach with no vision. Surely we can do better.
There is no joy in following a club that accepts mediocracy. With nothing to look forward to, no new faces to be excited by, then why should we care?

It’s even more ridiculous given where the Rorters were at the beginning of the year. They looked like a spoon contender full of young kids and an aging declining Teddy. Compare that to us before the Dickhed Evan’s announcement.

Careful now....we can't use the M word around here...

Dont forget 2-3 games a year, not even superman can't prove SH##TT I'm calling it as I see it. Hope he comes back and destroy us to prove me wrong, so I can say told yaaa.;-)

Even though I love all Eagles my friends, wer're all different beast.

Does the NRL allow that? If he's already contracted for 2026 at 1.1m can we say 'renegotiated a 2 year extension for a total of 1.95m'
Or would they say that's really only a new 2 year deal @ 425k per year which is below his value??
That's a really good point SER8. If the case, then probably not worth doing for Turbo. That means no cap relief for next year. I do think we have a very good point however to devalue Turbo circa $650k - $750k a season beyond his existing $1.1m for next year. That's a 2027 savings though.

Jake is a whole different proposition. Should he retire and start a coaching career at the club then there is that possibly of a $1m cap relief for next year. With Aloiai, Sips, Jazz and DCE leftovers we certainly get close to $2.5m relief next year. That's a good start to procure some top talent in those forwards.

Be careful for what you wish for silvereagle, Fifita is a lazy arse and NAS gives away to many penalties and ìs mistake prone. Of the two I'd take NAS tho.
Certainly a big improvement on what we have today. Both players I understand want out of their existing arrangement so we might be able to pickup a little cheaper. Yes will be a coaching challenge but worth the risk I feel. Look at what Spencer Leniu did to the Dogs last night almost single handed. Also with Perth and PNG coming into the comp, there will be far less experienced talent available....so grab them while we can.

Yeah, this could be the case, starting in Nov, it's going to be a crazy off season that's for sure.

Some good points and though a few gave Bozo stick for repeating his thoughts.....he was very accurate in pinpointing these facts as an issue for a once proud club
