2026 recruitment & retention

I do find it curious that we do not appear to have a published recruitment department or is that part of the football managers remit?
Peter Gentle - “Head of Football and Recruitment” per the website. In reality, it’s probably Isaac Moses.

WARRIORS YOUNGSTER IN HIGH DEMAND

The high-flying Warriors are in danger losing one of their most promising young forwards to an Aussie club.

Barnstorming back-rower Kayliss Fatialofa is only 20 but has raced in 10 tries in 14 NSW Cup games this season and has rival talent scouts falling over themselves to snare him.

The Warriors are aware of the interest and have offered the off contract youngster a new upgraded two-year deal to counter the approaches from outside.

The Warriors' SG Ball captain last season, Fatialofa has made the step up to playing against men effortlessly and the Manurewa Marlins junior is rated by several good judges as the best second rower in the NSW Cup.

From The Mole

Maybe we are trying to lure him over? Would rather see this then Waddell or Chee Kam for the next month or 2
Meanwhile in other news ,Manly is set to court Bryce Cartwright with a lucrative long term contract ,which will ensure that Manly's salary cap is further tied up with serial non performers .
Manly is committed to the if your old ,slow and mobility comprised there is always a home for you at Manly and a safe space on the injury bench for the term of your contract.
"Manly feels youth and speed is over rated sees no need to worry about such qualities in new recruits", said head recruiter Isaac Mo,,,,,errh wait Peter Gentle

but they have already resigned several of their young up and coming forwards. The very opposite to Manly.
It's almost like they have a junior base that is literally an entire country...

I wouldn't be surprised if we get either of these guys, iirc an inside source on ST a couple of months ago, said we'd be looking to get several of these sorts of players. "Robust, versatile, forwards" with leg speed or something like that.

Into top 30 next year

If Aloiai retires (Bunty Afoa, Jacob Wiencke, Corey Jensen)
Croker (I think it’s time the years of playing hooker have taken a toll) Tallyn Da Silva don’t think we have $$ Reed Mahoney his only 27 I was thinking he was older

When do the millions for Jurbo & Turbo run out ???

They need to be on half what they are getting , otherwise discard.

Yes I know they are THE most passionate and loyal players BUT we are not moving forward with them sucking up 2 million between them.

Cobbo signing 1 year with dolphins is a strange decision from the dolphins. Why bring him in for 1 year when he is expected to leave to join the bears. So signs for the bears in November before he plays for the dolphins strange move phins.

1 more year.

And you can't simply discard, players have contracts

No I’m not saying discard now , contracts are contracts ( unless the players want out and then they’re not ) but at the end of the contract.

So at the end of 2026 then the club is going to need to make some difficult decisions.

I cant see them being on more than 1.2-1.3mil combined in 2027.

Which I think would represent reasonable value and if Tommy has good run with form and injuries represents great value but we also can wait till september or so to really look at where we are at.

That will allow us a big chunk of change for a forward in 2027

I think 1.3 for the both of them is still to much. Jake is almost done. And turbo plays 11 games a year. Love the boys they are great clubman, but we need to move forward. I feel we will extend both though as Perth will get any decent player available. Thats why I say see if they are open to super league end of this year so we can get a headstart of what will be a bullish market

Gosh this time of year must be difficult.

Here we are trying to get Da Silva before Monday and while we don't know if he's coming or not, we have to hold the space rather than throw everything at a front rower of any kind, which we also need.

Tricky

I wonder if tonight's game will have any influence on his decision. If we get smacked, that wouldn't be a great sales pitch 😀

Just waiting for Jake to retire.

Not often a talented player of the calibre of Da silva comes along. The hooker position has been a problem for years. Hopefully we get him.
