2026 recruitment & retention

The Trbojevic clan are true Manly people who love the club in the same way that Beaver Menzies did. Turbo and Jake putting the club first. Boy I hope we somehow manage to win a Premiership for these two. Ben T is fast becoming an excellent backrower. Let's smash the Knights tomorrow night!
I spent hours with these 3 at a shoot....and I couldn't believe how true they were to the image the media plaster out about "True Manly men".....they lived up to the tag and then some, humble, friendly and nothing was too much for them to be a part of and had the priveledge of spending quality time outside of the footy stuff.
To hear Tom say he would not want to play against Manly is no suprise and I think the work these boys do for their junior club Mona Vale Raiders is Massive and in fact I know they actually do a fair bit with many junior teams that does not get any air time through the media....they live and breath Manly.
I want all 3 to stick around and does get tricky with the disappointment of injuries and these things, but such is life.....and I feel at the right price, it would be dumb management to not have these blokes around.

Manly have opened talks to re-sign off-contract duo Siosiua Taukeiaho and Jazz Tevaga, with the latter revealing he has played the past month with a fractured rib.

Taukeiaho and Tevaga both landed at the Sea Eagles on one-year deals over the summer, and are both likely to earn one-year extensions.

The Sea Eagles are on something of a re-signing spree at the moment, with fellow forward Ethan Bullemor closing in on a four-year extension at the club.

Manly have also moved to begin talks with Tom and Jake Trbojevic, who are off contract at the end of 2026 and free agents from November 1 this year.

Talks are also ongoing with young winger Clayton Faulalo, while Manly are keen to keep fellow off-contract outside back Tommy Talau.

"We've started discussions with Jazz and Siua," Manly CEO Tony Mestrov told AAP.

Jazz Tevaga, who joined Manly from the Warriors, has been playing with a fractured rib.

"Siua came for a year, had a few injuries, but his leg speed has been great, and Jazz is a tough bugger.

"Siua and Jazz have probably been two of our best forwards this year. They've added to the culture of what we're trying to do, being tough and relentless.

"We've started discussions, just started with both, with a view to keeping them next year and extending them."

Taukeiaho's talks come after Manly offered him a lifeline over the summer, after he failed a medical at Canterbury in 2023 and was released by Catalans last year.

The former Sydney Roosters premiership winner won't face Newcastle on Thursday because of a calf strain, but has been one of Manly's most reliable players this year.

Tevaga, meanwhile, took something of a gamble when he knocked back an offer from the Warriors to move to Australia on his one-year deal.

After filling in at dummy-half to start the year, he has been particularly good in his preferred spot of lock in recent weeks with Jake Trbojevic out.

"I put all my eggs in this basket," Tevaga said.

"I'd prefer to stay. We came over here for an opportunity. I feel like I've lived up to the transaction. Hopefully we can get something across the line.

"I'm no Isaah Yeo or anything, but I feel like it's working well (at lock) and giving me a good balance."

Tevaga will go back to the bench this week with Trbojevic returning at No.13, having also required needles on a fractured rib suffered in round eight against Penrith.

"I've been battling and it doesn't help when you lose a few players, but It's getting better," Tevaga said.

"At first it was a rib cartilage, and then I copped a whack on it, and with the rib cartilage out, it just threw me in a vulnerable position.

"I was going to sit out the Sharks game ... If you watch it I just couldn't wrestle. In the play-the-ball, I couldn't fight, because it was just in pain, but the jab helps it."
Mestrov doing some great work. He’s the one guy that gives me confidence Manly is heading in the right direction.

Great stuff. Jake and Tom are great custodians of Manly DNA that will take us into the next generation. Destined to be coaches and/or administrators at the club. Arko to Fulton to Hasler to Trbojevic. That is our great Manly DNA lineage.

Thanks Maxta. It's great to read that they are the type of young men that we see them presented as. Please Manly find a way to win a comp while these guys are still in our side. I'm loving Ben T at present. I can't wait to watch him smash a few Knights later on tonight.

I have a feeling Lodge will come good over the second half of the season.
I damn hope so - I mean when he FIRST got a run at Manly he was Super good....looked so aggressive and strong in attack and defence and was taking it upon himself to be "The Leader of the Pack"....but been pretty underwhelming since, not terrible, but plain average , which is way off the bar he set....he Beat the Sharks on his own 1 game !
If he can't add that power intimidation type to make a stamp on the game would go for some quick legs in Navale or even give Dunford a go, as need that "point of difference" of either power or speed, not just the "plodder" off the bench, which Lodge has been since injuries and time out....has the ability, just not sure his body is capable to match that, but hope he comes good....

Agree, not sure if he had any pre season training or fitness. Didn't he have that boxing match before he hooked up with us, obviously not a lot of fitness went into the fight. Let's hope he finds some form and fitness soon.

That recruitment worked out well….not.
Dorahy gone after two seasons, the first heavily interrupted by injury.
Boyd suspended out of the game i
Brown finally got the hooking gig in mid 1983, after Krilich’s forced retirement -
My point was all about how Ruthless our legendary Win at all costs Godfather was in Ripping the heart out of oppositions clubs best players
There was no salary cap back then
But there was the ethical principle Spirit of the game

He did have a pretty bad acl injury which can slow you down. Hes definitely on the chonky side at the moment though which is something that can be managed.

Yep. Peak Lodge would be first or second prop picked for mine.

FYI. I saw Isaah Yeo at the local shops this morning and asked him if he would ever consider a move to Manly. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up but he didn’t categorically rule it out. He did tell me to **** off, but still.
