2026 halves plan

Watching tonight’s game and Turbo going down injured I’m thinking we should consider Sean O’Sullivan or Brad Schneider. Hoppa to play fullback and Turbo as our 14. Turbo on after 20 mins and play a roaming role and 20 mins after half time then put him on ice for the following week. Keeps the cap in check and hopefully keeps Turbo fresh and away from injuries.

I didn't get to the end of your diatribe... and then I woke up.
So back to the topic: our replacement half speculation.
How about we try to get Latu Fainu back? He's behind Lui and Gavin at Wests, and was an interchange lock today.
He has a better chance to play First Grade in 2026 in the halves at Manly than at Wests.
Thoughts?
Maybe he can bring Samuela back too

Sounds like Fogarty is after a three year deal and from the below he has an offer from the club..

RICKY’S DILEMMA

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has spoken of his recruitment headaches at the Raiders over the futures of experienced halfback Jamal Fogarty and hooker Tom Starling.

It’s become a dilemma at a development club where so many outstanding young players are emerging to bang on the door for a starting spot, including rookies Ethan Sanders and Owen Pattie.

I’ve told Jamal and Tommy I want them both to stay,” Stuart said. “I still need their experience to help bring through the kids.

“Jamal and Tommy are both exceptional people to play these roles but I can’t guarantee any player a first grade starting spot.

“If the senior players can’t handle the fact these young players are coming through, they are better off finding another deal.”

“I want every player in our top 30 to know the top 17 each week is picked on form.”

Fogarty has been offered a big money deal at the Manly Sea Eagles as a replacement for Daly Cherry-Evans.

I’ve told Jamal that if he can get a three-year deal on good money for his wife and family, he should take it,” Stuart said, “but I also said I’d prefer him to stay.

“But I can’t change our long-term vision of bringing talented young players through.

“These kids are aware there are more experienced players in front of them when they sign.”

Not sure he’s the player Manly will need when DCE leaves, both financially and style of play

Somehow I doubt that the club has any interest in bringing any Fainu back into the fold.

And that’s a good thing.

As for Fogarty, if he wants a three year deal from Manly, then he should be a ‘no go’.

We cannot afford to lose excellent prospects (again) because another player puts (understandably from their perspective) his interests ahead of the M-W club.

Yeah nah a big no to the gangster. The Fog for 2 not 3. Otherwise 🙅🏻‍♂️

A very solid, versatile player, that we can hopefully retain.
Is he the long-term answer probably not, but could we do worse? Yes we could.

I think if we can't get Fogarty we give Jake Arthur a chance, I don't want us to pay big bucks for a new HB and I sure as hell don't want Reynolds or Foz back unfortunately. Give Jake Arthur the year and maybe Isaac Moses can convince his little cousin Mitch to jump ship in 2027, If Large and Walsh are delayed in anyway during their development.

We’re singing from the same sheet of music.

We know he can also play dummy half/hooker and probably (as others have mentioned) has the makings of a very capable lock forward.

He is certainly not a show pony when it comes to the defensive work.

Definitely the forgotten man in all the halfback talk.
Jake is younger than Humphreys and already has 29 NRL games under his belt, including playing in finals games.
Use DCE's 750k to bolster our forwards?

Use DCE's money re-sign Bully and chase another barnstorming prop. Give Arthur the year and the keys to the team I honestly don't think it will hurt us that much

It is hard to pick through fact and fiction. What might be fact is that DCE had communicated with the Club in late 2023 he was looking at leaving and requested a release. So why was Humphreys let go as he was on low $ and a quality player. I like the Fogerty option BUT if 3 yrs only contract choice he would restrict the advancement of Walsh/Large.
Good see Brooks taking more control. Maybe SeaEagleRock8 right.. Arthursin the mix for a year or 2.

Main weakness in Arthur is he doesn't seem to be a credible running threat (based on what I've seen in the past) and not sure if that's something you can get around. Maybe if we got a dangerous running dummy half ?
It's probably the same weakness in Humphreys game too (so far anyway).

When I watch Humphreys play, I don’t see any second guessing on his part about what he should do next. He is a very direct halfback with his running and passing.

The Potential is there for all clubs
Its the the smart People from clubs that fulfil or fail this potential
Got nothing to do with smart people , their young , yet to play against men , if you throw them in early it could cripple them physically or mentally.

They need a year in Flegg , then ease them into reserves.

Watched a little of Jake Arthur yesterday. What struck me was how tall he was for a halfback. If he keeps filling out his body then lock would be his position.
