Announcement 2025 Tipping competition Feedback Request

I am determined not to be caught out through poor preparation this year, and as such I have enabled and activated the 2025 tipping competition early to try and improve on the input this year. As many of you know this is our primary money earner for the year, particularly with us having some issues with advertising in its current format we are not currently earning any income for the site.

I am currently toying with increasing the entry amount to $30 for the year but feel like that may be too much so wanted to get your feedback on this. Please let me know your thoughts by joining the anonymous poll.

Hoping to get this squared away soon so we can get people signed up and ready before season start, I am also conscious of the fact charging less may mean more entries which negates the higher charge amount and have reflected that in the options in the poll, however please feel free to suggest other price points that you think will work.

I'd always prefer a larger crowd each paying a smaller price, but exactly how to achieve that I know not. I'll be in, either way 🙂

I’m fine with the $30 fee for the tipping comp.

I’ve mentioned this before, but a tipping comp + premium membership bundle might also be attractive for some. Eg $50 for both.

Think about it as your site membership dues. Just because it's called a tipping comp doesn't mean you have to tip. If you get something out of this site and you have the means (i.e. can afford 3 x beers) then pay the money and keep the place ticking over for another year.

Dan never asks for money because that is not the sort of guy he is. Everything on the net these days is subscriber based / user pays. Help the bloke out and donate to keep the place running. It's not like he is making a profit from Silvertails.

@Dan - other option maybe like a Wikipedia model, a "donate" button where people can choose how much they want to contribute on an annual basis. Every little bit helps. Or don't have a fixed entry price for the tipping comp, set a minimum of $5 and allow users to choose their price point at sign up time ?

1. Click on your username on the top banner

2. select 'Account upgrades' from the menu

3. Purchase the 2025 tipping competition upgrade
