Wow.
Look to offload our 4th highest pointscorer, (probably move to 2nd within 2 seasons) that averages over 8.5pts per game and kicks at 75%.
More than holds his own at fullback, wing and centre.

Tough marker.
You might be misunderstanding my rationale. Garrick is a good player and I enjoy watching him play. But when we re-signed him last time, I’m sure it wasn’t a low contract. So if you are trying to make room in your cap, you have to consider letting some of your mid-cap players go where you (1) have cheaper / better value options available and (2) can minimise any freight you carry for the duration of the contract. Hoppa and / or Talau arguably satisfy (1) and Garrick would be attractive in the market to satisfy (2).

Not having a crack at him at all.

Yet again, another secret sign on deal. Why are some contracts known and others aren't ?.
None of them are known.

They are confidential. Player agents often leak amounts for their journo buddies to publish, for one reason or another.

Clubs might even leak a dollar figure for an offer they've made that was rejected.

Clubs don't publicly deny rumoured amounts, because if they did they'd have to deny all of them. Otherwise the implication would be that the one not denied was true.

As for the accuracy of any of the published-and-repeated-ad-infintum-as-fact rumours, maybe ask @Ryan (who by chance once came across an actual player's contract!)

Hopefully the club is using the long term deals to get ahead of the salary cap increases expected with the new TV deal. I also would be tapping the big three, jurbo, turbo and DCE and extending them all but saying DCE go to end of 2026 and here is a deal for 800k across the next two seasons (save 200k vs current), Tom here is a 3 year deal for 900k (save 200k vs current), jake here is a two deal deal for 750k (save 200k vs current). Which would be all fair deals at the backend of careers but give us 600k savings a year vs their current deals), enough for a decent play at a topliner.

Fair point except that Hoppa won't be a cheaper option for long, assuming we want to retain him.

They signed him until end of 2026 last November, the problem will be it was a supplement contract for 2025 and an NRL top 30 contract for 2026, no doubt he deserves an upgrade and should be in the 30 for next season.

It’s a difficult one on club management at times where players over perform and they need to find more dollars to recognise the players contribution, something may have to give in terms of releasing a player etc, the Val Holmes one is a fine example, good player on large coin and the Cowboys have some decent youth coming through.

Dooms dayers. FMD. Silvertails! A few weeks ago it was kill the coach this Seibs won't give a young kid a go. Des rules with blooding kids. #!WTF. Seibs ha no idea. ?

6 weeks later. The sky is falling because we won one game with a young halfback and the club aren't convinced he is the greatest ever and next immortal.

And now an outside back who the coach clearly penciled in for bigger things, in the off season actually has been blooded into grade when he was ready, looks a fair talent.

Aaaaannndddd.

Would you believe it, the sky is falling we have too much talent in the backs, someone great needs to go. FMD.

And yet Jaxson Paulo = crickets.

Ahh. Now just may be this bye week could be a great chance to get your party on. That extra nip of rum. What ever floats your boat.

But how about we all enjoy the weekend off, Silvertailians being leaders of the champion revolution and party in your own way, do what you need to to inspire the boys to greatness.

PS. Dam this Seibs must be the greatest ever. How good is he going. He's got the boys earning 2 points this week. And they don't even have to show up. Those great coaches that also played for the MAN So actually knew how to coach the MAN. I wonder if they earned points without even showing up;-)?

#Enjoytheweekend. #Findthepositives.

Phrase is a real bug bear of mine.

Not a go at you, but Waddell has played 111 first grade games, he is by definition a first grader.

But yes, I agree he should not be a regular in our 17, as stated would like him as about a 5th 2rf option
I cringe when I see him in our starting line and to think he is there because of one reason and one reason only! We all know why.
I my opinion we have better at Blacktown.

What the media releases as gospel, versus actual reality is light and day mate, and it's not even close ! At least in Choc's contract.

I used to think that too. I wasn't a fan of the Waddell signing 2.0 at all.

I'll eat humble pie with Waddell. He's proved me wrong on being able to play middle.

He had some very good games in the first couple of months. He earned that starting spot earlier in the year.

He might be still working back to that form.

There is now a maturity about him as a player this time round. His body language just tells me he knows he belongs out there now.

I'm not talking the Brownie fight all comers attitude.

But there is a calmness, a confidence, and just enough of that I'm not taking a backward step, attitude about him.

He has absolutely added to our squad. He's mobile. Has enough pace. Ability to move between middle and edge.

Still things to work on. Might not be Angus Crichton. But he's that experienced tradesman forward who can get the job done, plus some on a good day.

Look don't get me wrong when I say this, because I honestly do love Jake. But Jake is the captain of NSW because he is a stand up guy and what he brings to the team, not the teams performance. It's why he only plays 1 stint for 20 mins a game, barring the game we had won by halftime. I'm sorry, but it is what it is. Jake is a tackle bot these days, he doesn't add any impact to other facets of the game. There have been plenty ober the years and none have been able to demand close to 750k. I don't even know if jake will be in the origin team next year? Like I can't confidently say he will be. I hope he is.. but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't. On another note, Stefano is hardly an average first grader. Let's see how he goes next year in a new team and re evaluate this comment next year
“Jake Trbojevic has copped a bit of grief lately because he probably doesn’t smash the running metres metric that the media love to use. The reality is that this guy works so hard off the ball, leads the line speed in defence and does all the little things.

In attack, he leads the NRL in push supports.

So when a teammate is taking a carry, Jake is the league’s best at running in support as an option to pass. This takes a lot of effort with no real recognition on the stat sheet, but it helps his teammates so much.

When Jake pushes up, the defensive line must hold out and respect him as an option. That means big units like Taniela Paseka and Josh Aloiai often draw 1-2 man tackles instead of the 3-4 man tackles they’d cop without push support. As a result they are easier carries, able to carry further (especially post-contact metres) and help Manly win the field position battle”

We need another big mobile prop like Strefano. It is curious that he has not announced who is signing with yet and that suggests he might be waiting for another club interested that is formulating an offer / opportunity. I hope it's us.

He never rose to great heights when playing for us. He's been playing better for NZ.
It's a NO for me.
Ignoring that we couldn't work out whether to play him in the centres or at 5/8 for a lot of his time here, he was pretty bloody good at #14 for our run in 2021 and was one of our better players there in a poor year in 2022 as well. He's been just as good at the Warriors as he was for us in those years, but it's probably more noticeable as the game is favouring quick, mobile players around the middle (like him) more and more every year.

I would take him back in an absolute heartbeat

Another of Parramatta’s most exciting young NRL stars – teenage battering ram Charlie Guymer – has asked for permission to talk to rival clubs. (Eels denied it for now but I’d say he won’t be there next season.)

Good young player hopefully we are taking a look at him

Was just about to say this. I agree, Guymer can play lock and out on an edge. Young, good mobility, looks to have a nice motor and gets through tons of work. Would like to see us make a play at him for sure.

Think he would benefit greatly from playing behind and being mentored by Jurbo and Nathan Brown.
