2025 recruitment & retention

Hear Dragon are interested in Cook on a two season deal, no disrespect to Crocker but if you could have Cook/Crocker combo you could consider Turbo in centres (roaming roll like Manu) and the Garrick to Fullback. Matt Lodge to drop out of side to balance the cap.

Im telling you, we get a decent hooker that knows when to run and penetrate the line we go top 4 easy.
I agree, last week my brain decided to hyper focus on the dummy half passes and comparing them to the opposition, it looks like we are in slow motion. I wish I never took that much notice because that's all I could focus on the whole game, the only other thought I had was how much Garrick was pissing me off at how useless he was being.

What about that other hooker from the Knights, the brother of the cronulla hooker, I dont think he has resigned up their yet. I know he hasnt set the world on fire up there this year but I reckon get him back on the beaches and he would freshen up

Not a huge upgrade on what we have and always injured. We have enough crocks.

Jai Arrow has a bit of everything. Always prominent when souths go well. Tough, competitive, plays a bit of footy, runs strong

Leader in the pack,

quite close to next up with qld

Smith has never been a good hooker.

His distribution and decision making is poor, as is his defence.

His darts are good, close to the line he is excellent and he has great leg speed, finds his front and therefore gets a quick play the ball.

Off field issues aside he is a great 14 to cover hooker and play as an impact lock but not a starting hooker.

Full package with his issues......huge risk and one I'm not sure is worth taking.

Guys, with our recruitment retention really looking at ...... well ...... what we are looking at, you'd assume we'd be represented heavily in the youth State of Origin (under 19) teams playing tonight on Foxtel.

Remember, there are around 40-45 players selected in the two squads (NSW / QLD).

I was wondering if anyone can give us an insight into all of Manly's players representing their state tomorrow in that game (or the ones in the greater squad)?

I couldnt see any Manly players in either squad, when I had a quick look through yesterday.

We should be hunting in this space. A youngster like Noah Martin at the Raiders with their plethora of forwards would be a good target.

Same with Steep at the Roosters

I wonder who found and sourced players like the Stewart's, Matai & others. Who was that and where are they? Also, you're correct, there are absolutely no Manly players in either squad, which is worrisome given our slant for attracting players who are either unwanted, downgraded, can't crack first grade, ageing, injury prone and / or winding down.

Maybe it's time to pull the old Ben Ikin with our roster, and release some of the marquee paid players, so that we can resize / retool, and go in another direction.

Pretty sure that was the Crusher network?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about how many we have/don’t have in these underage rep sides

We have had quite a few over recent years, who haven’t really amounted to much, and we currently have Lehi Hopoate who didn’t feature in them the past few seasons yet is going very well in first grade

This weekend is a great opportunity for some of our younger up coming future stars. These opportunities don't present themselves too often so they need to make the most of the opportunity and I think they will.
