2025 recruitment & retention

This article reads like smoke and mirrors to me. I feel like maybe he is digging his heels in to ensure the ball is in the Tigers court and that if they want to move him on, they’ll have to pay for it!
Pretty limp denials:

"I haven't spoken to anyone there"
(of course not, that's your manager's job)

"I don't know where that came from"
(doesn't mean it's not true)

"I'm going back there"
(May be true as of right now but doesn't mean he isn't about to sign a deal)

This is what Bateman has to say.Anything else and he risks breaching his contract. All part of the separation dance

Here's another conflicting article. Is he or isn't he leaving the tigers?

As above, he won't say much of consequence as he is still being paid a lot of money as a contracted Tigers player... right up until the moment he isn't. Which may be soon, or it may be at the end of 2026 when his current contract expires.

His manager who negotiates on his behalf would be having the pertinent discussions in private.

You mean Isaac Moses?

I imagine that all player managers (some more than others) play their games (including drip-feeding information through the media) while their players just deny or don't comment.

But the exact details being negotiated between manager and club are probably different to either of the above.

Bateman and Seibold both managed by Moses so I find Bateman saying he doesn’t know anything about discussions with Manly amusing. He just needs to ask his manager.

SHOOSH

Which player who has been shopped by his club is avoiding answering phone calls from his club or agent?

Sounds like Bateman, no way Moses hasn't tried talking to him about it yet.

SHOOSH II

Which club offered an international player a train and trial deal which was quickly rejected?

This is such a Manly thing to do.

West tigers have sacked a promising prop in Jordan Miller, only 19 and has played 2 nrl games currently apart of the Fiji Bati team. Big unit 192cm tall and 131kgs I wonder if the trend of signing tigers players will continue.

I don't have any issue with signing Tigers players. Signing sacked players, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish. The obvious first question is what was he sacked for?

Turned up to training late a couple times but he is claiming there were circumstances which caused this that he had no control over. I think he is trying to lawyer up & get it overturned or maybe just wants a payout. Would be a good signing IMO
