2025 Origin period - Blessing or Curse?

Just having a look at the 2025 draw & noticed we have no byes before origin games this year. That means we are playing 3 games potentially without Jake, Turbo, DCE, Haumole & maybe Bullemor.

On the other hand if DCE retires from rep duties & Jake, Haumole + Bullemor are overlooked it could be a great time for us to pick up an extra 6 points against weakened teams. We verse Parra, (Moses, Hopgood, Lomax) Rabbits (Latrell, Murray, Arrow) & Titans (Tino, Fifita)

If all our guys do end up playing origin then they will be very tough games & if we can’t pick up any points I don’t think we are a chance for top 4. Also a bit frustrating to see a few other teams chasing top 4 in Panthers, Storm & Broncos all only play 1 game each without origin stars, but that’s just luck of the draw I guess.

This period of the year is going to be the difference between making or missing the top 4 IMO & we know how important it is to finish there if you want to win a comp

Agreed, not sure how they work it out that some teams play 3 games without origin players while others only play 1. Huge advantage

We lose the fairness argument at teams not all playing each other home and away (I know, not possible).

So for mine the Origin period is what it is, swings and roundabouts and I personally like seeing some young kids and fringies get an opportunity

It brings in a massive amount of $ for the game so it is not going anywhere (and they are not going to reduce the games anytime soon)

Yep panthers have been the standard for a few years now. Just not a great situation for us to be 1 of the 3 teams that don’t have byes for any origin game. If DCE does end up retiring from rep it would be a massive boost to our top 4 hopes against depleted opponents

Origin stifles the league, play origin over a period of 3 weekends mid season so the comp is not affected and its fair to all teams!!

Maybe, though I am hoping Tent has a huge impact in 2025 and puts himself in discussions for rep footy along with Haumole.

Turbo only in my opinion although they might pick Jake
