I heard a whisper that a “gun”young player signed by the Dolphins on a train and trial contract, has got himself in big trouble,to the point that we may never see him play the game. For some reason, the story has not been made public.Wayne Bennett,in the past, has had power to cover up many indiscretions of Broncos players, but not sure this situation is of his doing, given the nature of the incident

The Wighton and Latrell incident doesnt seem too big a deal, a fine and maybe match or two

Come on mate...resisting arrest, indigenous.... they will get nothing. Race card will be played and the cops will be in trouble.
Slothfield already called it a 2/10, imagine if Hastings or a young Hopoate did the same..... Latrell wants to be the role model...new Foxtel contract top up...still a f#ckwit

Like this one, footy "star" the title goes......
He played one game off the bench for a Baby Bronco side decimated by injury 🤦🏻‍♂️ yet he's a star!
If he's now a star Gus will be looking to sign him too.

I heard on 9's late news they referred to Latrell as "the League's leading player". Really?! What about Tedesco?

Who's sorry now?

“We apologise for what happened in Canberra and take full responsibility for our actions,” the statement said.
“We’re not in a position to comment on exactly what happened because it is the subject of an upcoming court case. Both of us understand that it is not a good look for the game at that time of night.
“We regret that it’s happened and hopefully can move on once the legal process has been completed. It was originally a bit of fun that got out of hand.”
Mitchell and Wighton joined the Indigenous All Stars squad at Sydney Airport on Monday morning, appearing chatty and happy with one another.
The pair checked in at the International Terminal alongside teammates, before boarding a flight bound for Auckland just before 10am.
The pair did not speak to media and seemed calm and content as they had their passports scanned.
Police charged both players with a range of offences over the incident at 3.45am outside a Canberra nightclub.

They will appear in court on Wednesday, February 22, the week before the NRL kick-off.

Mitchell and Wighton were released from custody around 10am.

Curtis scott was a repeat offender but copped a pretty raw deal from over zealous cops Last year.

Look, it's not their go.

Oh scrap that, it is absolutely their go.

From a Manly supporters perspective, it's ideal preparation for Souffs and the Raiders for the 2023 season. The only downside I can see is possible shoulder injuries to potential NSW Origin players. Other than that, if Souffs and Raiders players want to play WWE in the streets with a skinful, who are we to stop them.

Perhaps we can spread the word amongst all our NRL rivals that they should take it up.

A new kind of 'opposed training session', just held inside - and then outside - their local hotels and clubs.

It could be a new pre-preseason comp - that Manly should avoid at all costs.

Looks on the money. Daily mail reporting and unnamed nrl player charged with rape in Brisbane supreme court today. Stood down by club.
Headline says NRL star but that could be a stretch given it was the Mail.

A high-profile NRL player charged with rape has had his case mentioned in a Brisbane court.
The player, who was previously stood down by his club, was charged on January 14 with one count of rape.

According to court documents, police allege the man, who cannot be identified at this stage of proceedings, raped a woman at the Prince Consort on Wickham St, Fortitude Valley, on December 11.

His matter was first mentioned in Brisbane Supreme Court today.

The man was not present however a lawyer appearing on his behalf asked for an adjournment.

Magistrate Julian Noud adjourned the matter to March 6.

The man remains on bail.

Both Wighton & Latrell should have both been stood down under the no fault policy and if not, should have been sent to NSW cup comp for the next year. That would set the right precedent for future players.

Interesting that the NRL can keep the players name under wraps, but poor old jack De Bellin got dragged thru the wringer

The player I was referring to hasn’t played NRL as yet and was with the Dolphins Development squad. The player that has been charged today,I won’t name, just to be careful, isn’t really a secret as the story broke in December and has already been stood down by his club and was on the verge of being sacked after another incident in January.Which prompted someone on Silvertails to suggest Manly should look into signing him and could get him,in classic ST terms,at the right price
