CONTROVERSIAL former NRL playmaker Todd Carney is out of rugby league limbo after reportedly agreeing with Queensland Cup team Northern Pride on a deal allowing him to play for English Super League side Hull KR.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...e/news-story/695e869aeb008350883dc36270febf89

The Pride had felt they deserved compensation from 32-year-old Carney to let him out of his three-year contract early, and Fairfax Media says that has now been arranged.

Hull Kingston Rovers want to sign Canberra Raiders forward Charlie Gubb before the transfer deadline.

Gubb was a priority target for Leigh Centurions but with the likelihood that the Centurions will not make the Qualifiers, they have backed out of the move. Gubb has made 44 appearances in the NRL for New Zealand Warriors and Canberra. He will add size to the Rovers pack.

Newcastle Knights’ war-chest of cash to transform them into title contenders could lead them into making an audacious move for Wigan and England stand-off George Williams, report League Express.

Knights coach Nathan Brown is keen to bring in a couple of high-profile signings and League Express report that the NRL club are interested in Williams.

Gold Coast Titans and Newcastle Knights are interested in taking Tyrone Roberts on board from the 2019 season, report League Weekly.

It was announced last month that the 27-year-old will return to Australia at the end of the season after struggling to settle in England while playing for Warrington Wolves in Super League. Newcastle and Gold Coast are the two clubs chasing his signature.

PARRAMATTA EELS KEEN ON LIAM KNIGHT
Parramatta are eager replenish their forward stocks ahead of what has to be a complete re-think of who they are as a club in 2019.

Having already secured Junior Paulo from Canberra and Shaun Lane from Manly, the Eels have made inquiries about Canberra middle-man, Liam Knight.

Knight has had his issues in the past, but has matured at the Raiders to play eight NRL matches.

MANLY FIND HALVES SOLUTION IN KANE ELGEY
‘’Kane Elgey will not be at the club next season,’’Badel told Sporting News.

‘’I’m hearing he is flying to Sydney this week and will meet with two clubs – Manly and the Knights.

‘’Interesting to see what Kane Elgey does, he does have some options which is good. There have also been some links with Kane and the Bulldogs but I’m hearing he is keen to look at Manly.

‘’He’s a beach kid from the Gold Coast, the Northern Beaches suit him and there is the lure of playing with Daly Cherry-Evans in the halves.

‘’If the money’s right from Manly’s end then Kane Elgey will go there but at this stage it hasn’t been locked in yet so there’s still the Knights and the Bulldogs in the picture.’’

Toronto Wolfpack have completed the exciting signing of Wakefield Trinity outside back Mason Caton-Brown for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Caton-Brown put pen to paper on a deal last week to run with the Pack on a permanent basis until the end of the season, with the move confirmed by the RFL today. He will link up with his new team mates just in time to bolster the Championship League Leaders’ squad ahead of their all important postseason ‘Super 8s The Qualifiers’ campaign.

On Over the black dot Owen cragie said that if Ivan goes to the riff then David kidwells name has been mentioned.
I dunno by who or how he knows this but I can't remember associating him with coaching success in the past.
Two words for the tiggers.
