2017 State of Origin #1 - QLD team.

I think a few of Bennett's former students are starting to realise what he is really like......

Mal doesn't like him, now Kevin Walters.

I can't understand Wally Lewis though, especially after the way Bennett and the Broncos treated him in 1990.

Most others already knew it though. For mine the kicker was the 1995 Origin series. Named as coach then pulled out because he wouldn't have his test team of Broncos to pick from and didn't have faith in anyone else. Fatty won that one though hehehe.

Personally, I would have gone with.....

FB - Slater
WG - Boyd
CE - Gagai
CE - Chambers
WG - Holmes
FE - Cherry-Evans
HB - Cronk
PR - Napa
HK - Smith (c)
PR - Myles
SR - Papalli
SR - Gillett
LK - McGuire

Res - Morgan, Thaiday, Guerra, Lillyman.

I still can't shake the feeling that Kevin Walters and the Qld selectors have cut their noses off to spite their face. The selection of Milford is simply an FU to Wayne Bennett after what was said in the past few days because both DCE and Morgan are much better options. And they have dropped the ball by picking Oates on the wing and the out of form O'Neill in the centres while not selecting the in form Slater. And the continued snubbing of DCE, which if as Tallis alluded to has more to do with his backflip on a Qld based NRL club than anything, is to their own detriment.

Whilst it's good to see Bennett get stood up Queensland's pettiness in regards to DCE knows no bounds.
And I think Thurston has a lot to do with it.
When he's been asked his opinion in the past it takes him all his time to actually say anything let alone anything positive.
His whole demeanor is fairly obvious that he doesn't rate him.
Maybe DCE is the one player he can't get the hang of.
Nonetheless the selectors should be strong enough and wise enough to have overridden jt and chosen him.
Manlys win.

Nate Myles Man of the match
Just when you think his career is over he runs on to the SOO arena with a "hard on" and makes a big impact !

Though disappointed, Thurston is looking forward to seeing what Anthony Milford produces on his debut.

“He’s a dynamic young player and I’m sure he will grab the opportunity with both hands and put in a performance that all of Queensland will be proud of,” the Cowboys playmaker said.

Well, whoopee doo!

IMO....Thurston will play.

They've selected him at 18 so that he's there if they 'need him'. Also, Milford was at long odds to actually be in the 17 until Wayne Bennett started his usual whinge last week about not wanting him in Origin camp if he wasn't going to play, then suddenly he's good enough to be Thurston's replacement in front of Morgan and even DCE?

Personally I think JT will suddenly by fit enough to play come next Tuesday or Wednesday and Milford will either drop out or back to the bench.

Johnathan Thurston's remarkable 36-game State of Origin streak is over with Queensland's talisman succumbing to a troublesome shoulder injury.

The Maroons headed off a potential flashpoint with Broncos coach Wayne Bennett when they confirmed on Thursday morning that Thurston - who hasn't missed a game in the last 12 series - would not play in the Origin opener next Wednesday despite being named as 18th man.
