No more Chris Bailey please

Whos that fullback ? Is he as fast as a bullet ?

What every single one of those teams highlights is how desperate the lack of props is.

I predicted that the Bonkos would miss the top 8 in 2010 because of a lack of big forwards and that's exactly what happened. They tried to patch it up with Scott Tronc mid season, but it wasn't enough.

We may struggle against the bigger packs in 2011.

We may struggle against the bigger packs in 2011.

Here are a list of props I believe have the ability to play first grade at our Eagles:-

Brent Kite (Former SOO, and International prop) 190 cm, 110 k/g's (29)
Jason King (Current SOO, and former City / Country prop) 192 cm, 111 k/g's (29)
George Rose (Current Indigenous All Star) 186 cm, 115 k/g's (27)
James Cunningham (Current International) 197 cm, 102 k/g's (20)
Tim Robinson (Former International) 186 cm, 94 k/g's (24)
Matt Cross (Premiership winner) 193 cm, 110 k/g's (26)
Junior Palau (SCSE Premiership winner) 190 cm, 113 k/g's (23)
Vic Mauro (SCSE Premiership winner) 179 cm, 102 k/g's (23)
Birrigan Young (NYC team) 195 cm, 102 k/g's (20)

Then, we have Harrison, Galuvao, Williams, Watmough, Rodney, Stewart, Buhrer, Lussick, Bailey and co. who can all play backrow potentially.

Sorry mate, for mine, that is a great mix of size, youth, veterans & potential. We are ridiculously rich in the backrow.

With Brett Stewart, David Williams returning, and the availability of Hoppa, Whare, Oldfield (the latter three no certainty to even make the top team), we are doing well.

I'm a real advocate of building from within too be honest, and adding a sprinkle of blue-chip player talent. The 2010 Canberra Raiders, and Penrith Panthers are just seeing those fruits come to bare now I reckon.

What about Michael Robson, is he Jeff Robsons brother? Gees I hope not? At least with Jamie Lyons in the centres we might get some favourbale decisions when his dad Steve referees us.

What the youngsters and immigrants won't realise is that we used to have blokes walking the streets trying to flog props
(clothes props)
Apparently like the rabbitohs used to flog rabbits ...
(I don't recall it myself but my dear departed mum told me such tales)
(Don't pay too much attention to any off-season posts...

Cross did little this year....was more like a dead tree stump planted on the field. I would rather see Vic Mauro get a run instead.

Ive seen Mauro play once, that was enough

14. T Williams (to be used as 3/4 or 2nd row)
15. Rose

18. Gulavao
19. Cross
20. Mauro
21. Buhrer
22. Hopoate
23. Whare
24. Oldfield
25. Harrison

Overall a pretty competitive squad with some very promising youth but I agree our front row depth is the weakness. Kite and King are quality, Rose has good impact but that's all he'll ever offer. I'm hoping Cunningham and Robinson can step up.

24. Oldfield
25. Harrison
26. Cunningham
27. Stromquvist
28. Seu Seu
29. Palau
30. Bailey
31. Portlock

Looking at that, we do actually have a fair amount of depth. My big worry though isn't prop, as we do have a fair few promising young players there, it's what happens if DCE goes down... I guess Foran and Riccardi will be our back-ups.

Providing Hasler doesn't stick with the same bloody team all year and injects some youth more often, I see no reason why we can't makle the 8. If we play to our best, we don't get a bad run of injuries, and our youth steps up, I see no reason why we can't make the top 4. Realistically though, I see us 5th-8th. Another even season ahead I think.

If Stromquist ever makes our 1st grade team, we are totally struggling. I'd rather bring back Dragan Durdevic.

Don't understand the hate Ryan. Stromquist is a young bloke & has fairly well in NYC given his experience compared to players like Cunningham & Palau.

Easily got a few more years of development left in him before people can start judging whether he's  a scrub or not.

He's a plodder. I've watched him heaps. He has weight problems. He has fitness problems. He lacks all forms of creativity that a forward needs in their game today. He's a defensive liability around the middle of the ruck.

We already have too many forwards that fit this bill.

What we need is a damaging Fui Fui energy type. Fui Fui also has an off-load.

We need to head backward in the plodder stakes.
