I was at this game, chilly Tuesday night mid season. A very young Geoff Toovey came of age that night, scoring a great try and setting the standard in defence. Manly toyed with this Lions team and 30-0 was a big result at the time!
 
A truly great Manly win and a fine performance by Tooves I will always remember.
Yep was there as well. Biggest memory was seeing the pommy forwards such as Lee Crooks keep running at Tooves and he kept burying them into brooky turf. Outstanding.
 
I was there too and taped the coverage to watch later.

You could tell that Jack Gibson, in his inimitable low key style, was impressed by Toovey’s performance.
