Best choice for tonight's immortal. Out of the remainder of them, only Cam Smith and Lazarus should maybe become an immortal in future.

No Sterlo, Daley, slater, fittler, Clyde, thurston etc etc they are hall of famers.... an immortal should be Fulton/Wally/Meninga like, one in a generation/best player in the world type player. Don't start giving out immortal status like lollies.

Graham Eadie’s name never gets a mention either on the Immortal Mortal front. Presumably he played for the wrong club.

I have a theory (in my darker moments) that Fulton was only selected as an Immortal back in 1981, because he was at the Goosters at the time, not at Manly.

The red hot favourite should never be considered for reasons too many to list here, which in included some deplorable on and off field conduct.

Ron Coote was a great player, but I don't think you can put him in the same category as a player with the original four immortals, especially Bob Fulton, I saw both play at the same time.
The concept of the immortals should have been left as it was originally, howver nowadays it has been greatly diluted, what they should have done is to have a Legends category, one step above the Hall of Fame category, I cannot see how Boyd got nomnated, and a player like Greg Alexander wasn't.

Saw most of his career [ Ron Coote ] and great player .
Well deserved with this award .
Had mixed feelings about Les Boyd elevation . Excellent player at his best also but apart from his lengthy suspension issues and the nature of them , fact that he missed so much of seasons 83 and 84 at Manly , really disappointing from a Manly perspective to say the least .
Especially when the likes of Eadie [ apparently ] and even Igor who have not been included yet .
Ken Irvine was a special player as well but looks like a bit harder for a winger and as good as some may have been to get the rating ahead of other outstanding positional based players

I saw both Coote and Irvine. Both deserve to be Immortals.
The crowd would rise whenever Kenny had the ball. He was electric; sort of like Reece Walsh without being a show pony.
I can't see how recently retired players judge the honour when they would never have watched a guy like Irvine play. Old b&W footage doesn't convey how big a star he was at the time. It's actually an insult that he wasn't inducted decades ago.

As much as we don’t like them I think Cam Smith need to be immortal alongside John’s. They both dominated in their time.

I don’t buy into Lockyer or Slater at all.

Great to see Coote get this one. A no-brainer. Wow he was mobile and fast as a forward.

The whole concept is flawed. Deciding in advance how many to induct in every X no. of years shows it is nothing to do with whether or not a player is really a generational talent, it's simply a vehicle for promoting the game/broadcasters/merchandisers etc.
Which is fine if that's how they want to go, but if so let's do it properly: An Immortal for every season. Or maybe for every Round!
This weeks Immortal ... congratulations Kaeo, a great performance!

(Nothing against Ron Coote, who was obviously a champion player)

Though I think Irvine definitely deserves recognition, There's no doubt Coote was an outstanding player. That South Sydney side in the late 60s and early 70s was brilliant. Manly had to buy three of them to get their first premiership. That Coote and McCarthy combination at Souths though was awesome
