    MVP: Rd 13 v Broncos

    3. jazz - the best defender in the team tonight. Wholehearted and heavily involved. 2. Hoppa - very impressive and an exciting glimpse of the future 1. DCE - Excellent game management.

Game Day: Manly V Broncos [Round 13, 2025]

I don't think there is a manly player who has worked as hard as jazz tevaga in 2025. He is everywhere in defence. 110% effort.

The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

I saw that and thought it wasn't a great thing to say about a teammate. I think it says as much about DCE's character as jazz's passing.

    MVP: Rd 11 v Cowboys

Burbo - lots of enthusiasm in defence, and more effective in attack. Forming a decent combination with brooks. Hoppa - elite yardage effort from our own end. Quality player. Jazz - gutsy all-effort player. A tough and skillful small middle forward - just what we have needed.

    How do we unlock Koula?

I like that he is changing direction, using footwork and a change of speed rather than simply running straight into the defensive line.

Game Day: Cowboys V Manly [Round 11, 2025]

Tevaga is actually a pretty good pick up. He isn't a hooker, but he is a pretty handy middle forward/13. He can hit and spin, offload and is a good defender. Gutsy player too.

Game Day: Cowboys V Manly [Round 11, 2025]

On a positive note, burbo is playing well and looking more like a first grader.

    Line speed and ruck area

I agree. Our initial contact isn't great either and we allow a lot of post contact metres. We must must be one of the poorer teams in holding an attacker up, then pushing them backwards and slowly to the ground. Need a new wrestling coach!

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Cowboys [Round 1, 2025]

This moment was special. Jazz ran from the ruck to make that tackle (running past most of his teammates in the process). Jazz isn't the fastest, biggest or flashiest player, but he gives his all.

The game has moved on from me and a lot of people from my generation

I agree results are not manufactured, but a highly successful Western Sydney team is part of the NRL strategy to resist the AFL and the GWS. Similarly, a successful Victorian team is also strategically desirable. I suspect the NRL don't pay too much attention to the panfers incredible line speed...

    2025

Our backs are fine, especially when you consider how infrequently our forward pack dominates (or even matches) the opposition. Speed and mongrel in the forwards is what we lack. We have a forward pack that doesnt intimidate and is inconsistent. Who has the mongrel of Liam martin? The futures of...

    Post-Game Discussion Chooks V Manly [Finals Week 2, 2024]

Very disappointing game and a deflating way to finish the season. We never were in it after an awful start. Realistically, we probably finished on the ladder at about the level we are. The only upside in this loss is that the inadequacy of our forward pack is crystal clear (if it wasn't...

    Jazz Tevaga to Manly 2025

I like this signing. Sounds like it isn't going to break the bank being a 1 year deal towards the end of his career. Jazz can give away a penalty and has had more than his share of injuries. That said, he brings plenty of aggro and will-to-win. Tough smallish prop, probably playing off the...

    Lodge, you Monster

Agreed. He rarely takes the early and hard hitups in a set. Pseudo tough guy.

The Manly pack we have waited for !!

not disagreeing, he missed a soft tackle on Sam Walker early against the roosters a few weeks back and hasn't been seen since.

    Lodge, you Monster

You could see him getting deep for his hitups and timing his run to receive the ball flat. He played with real intent and ran hard creating momentum. Takes the early hitups in a set too. Great effort.

The NRL is failing it's fans

I agree with most comments, and also feel coaches, who deliberately push beyond the rules (and spirit of the game) are at least partly to blame. For example, a stronger officiating body could have zealously penalised the neck pressure/wrestling when this started and killed it off. But what about...

Just a thought - key ingredient missing

Even some small changes would help. Why do Saab, Garrick (and to lesser extent Talau) regularly receive the ball 2, 3 or 4 metres behind the play the ball when working out from our own end? The storm back 3 always receive it "flat" at the play the ball (or forward).

    Miserable Middles To Dominate Middles.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Bullymore and Sipley just don't have the necessary aggro to go head-to-head with the best packs. Lodge, whilst slow, does have that within him.

    Post-Game Discussion Roosters V Manly [Round 21, 2024]

It was a gutsy effort to stay in the game, especially with injuries (garrick/saab). What concerns me is the lack of go-forward out of our own end. We regularly get shown up in this part of the game, particularly against quality opposition. I don't recall Toff and Paseka hitting the line at full...
