    Trey Mooney

Trey is another who went to Westfields so maybe Hales can twist his arm…it didn’t work with Da Silva but sooner or later we’ll land a target…

Do you watch our games? He’s all at sea, unless he’s running in a straight line.

    Trey Mooney

Trey has loads of talent and is a strong competitor and leader (in junior teams). I think he’d perfect. He is mobile and can generate second phase play too. I know he played edge for a long time as a junior too.

    The Clean Out 2025 Edition

Yep and to be beaten all ends up by that step, followed by ‘no-one there’ is not a system error, it’s just fatigue. OK, Waddell had not long since gone on but ordinarily he should be able to cover Burton by offering him the inside shoulder, with a teammate catching for him on the inside, before...

    The Clean Out 2025 Edition

I agree with most of that and it’s very astute…the only thing I would argue is the roster, i.e. don’t have better players than us’…it’s not necessarily that they’re better, but they’re definitely better equipped for the game in 2025. There’s a lot of speed across the park and it hurt us on the...

    The Clean Out 2025 Edition

Of course that’s what it is. You could see the intent and effort that we put in on Sunday and lost 42-4. The sad thing is people look at that score and believe we turned it up and stopped having a dig. The reality is even sadder…we were fatigued because our opposition was so far ahead of us in...

    Sack Seibold Immediately

See I actually think the problems started when we went away from the game plan and shifted when there was no opportunity. The two occasions that spring to mind were Hoppa pushing a pass for Saab (yes, there was space but no one there to catch the ball) and again pushing a pass to Koula who was...

    Post-Game Discussion Bulldogs V Manly [Round 21, 2025]

I can only speak from my own experiences coaching and/or being coached and that’s that there will always be limitations in what can and can’t be learned or taught. One could spend years ‘working’ on improving decision making but when the pressure is on in the heat of the contest, the only person...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

I usually agree with most of your criticisms of DCE but those bombs are called cage kicks and they’re not always designed to be contested. The game has changed and a bomb is not always an attacking strategy, rather, a territorial tactic. The bombs are designed to land as close to try line as...

    Post-Game Discussion Bulldogs V Manly [Round 21, 2025]

Not to be a contrary and argumentative thorn in your side, I have another take on things…not saying I’m right but… I thought he made a couple of darting runs that gave the impression he was effective, when his direction, service and defence were largely ineffective. There was a crucial period...

    The Cleary Ciraldo Style

That’s not really the point though… Both players took knocks to the face and both stayed down. Just because one had a bloody gash from a stud, does not change the situation. The blow that Xerri took was clearly more forceful and he stayed face down for much longer than Simpkin, yet was able to...

Game Day: Bulldogs V Manly [Round 21, 2025]

It’s a high quality game and the Dogs have brought their best in the rushing defence, which is controlling territory. We’ve been very good, missing less tackles than Canterbury. 18/21 completions from us is excellent. My only concern is the Dogs have a clear tactic of shifting the ball around...

All NRL Games [Round 21, 2025]

the old parallel distortion argument will be used to help the NRL weasel out of this one.

Near-miss at training gives Manly glimpse into future

Brooks has really done a fine job of marshalling his edge. Very underrated player. His outside men are getting good ball and he occasionally takes on the line to keep them guessing. He went short for Koula and long for Garrick last week. He can kick when Daly’s marked. I like what he’s doing.

    2026 recruitment & retention

I would have him over Harry Grant. I think he's the best 9 in the competition. Sure, Grant is the fashionable attacking weapon and is obviously elite but Brailey has better service and plays a more complimentary role to his teammates. Grant goes for the big plays and will often come up with...

Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

I remember the first couple of months of Seibs time at Manly saw a marked improvement in our contact; it was brutal and I thought we’d turned a corner in defence. For whatever reason, we couldn’t sustain it for too long into the season. The last few weeks have been as close as we’ve come to...

Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

this idea that one person has been responsible and/or should be credited with a player’s development is a fallacy in itself. Every player lands in FG, having a history of junior coaches, sometimes dating back to u/6s. Many typically have fathers who love the game (often why the kid is registered...

    Des Hasler retiring

Of course. We’ve seen in the last week with Coldplay’s kiss cam that the world is addicted to controversy. If there was this mysterious ‘other version’ floating around, online for even just a few minutes, it would be duplicated and duplicated and duplicated and go viral. It wouldn’t get taken...

    Jamal Fogarty

There’s a lot of sense to this and I think it could totally be the case; I just hope it is 😎

    Jamal Fogarty

That’s what is exciting about it. We’ve seen the last few weeks what a bit of control has done for the side. We’ve shown a willingness to get into the grind, complete sets and kick to corners and it’s worked. At least we know Fog will endorse a similar approach.
