    NSW Cup 2025

The stats don’t lie – absolute workhorse, barely misses a tackle either. Sykes is another one who’s a real goer and hits hard in defence. Two blokes who wouldn’t look out of place in first grade and are definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to the modern-day type of forward...

    NSW Cup 2025

I’m curious – if you don’t value anyone’s opinion on players in reserve grade or their form, and Seibold won’t play Navale in first grade either, then how are you supposed to make a fair assessment of him as a player? If you’re not going to take on board what others are saying, then at least...

    NSW Cup 2025

Please watch a bit more of him in NSW Cup before making calls like that – otherwise you really just end up sounding like fools. You can’t judge a bloke off a 15 minute stint in first grade. Anyone who actually follows reserve grade and the junior pathways knows he would offer a genuine point of...

    NSW Cup 2025

For me, the most impressive stats there have to be Mafoa’s. Just his third game back in the NSW Cup side and he’s already putting up numbers like that. He turns 22 this year, so he’s definitely old enough for a debut if he’s ready – and I reckon he should get a crack before Laiafi. Looks like...

He’s definitely a strange case. Missed the first part of the season through injury, then came back via Sydney Shield in round 13. It still took until round 21 for him to get a run in our NSW Cup side – which is odd considering he played two NSW Cup games at the back end of last season and then...

They’re not up yet. Should get posted either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

    NSW Cup 2025

Few interesting things to note from that game. All four of Manly’s bench players were 20 years old or younger, with three of them having played SG Ball (U19s) this year. Manly piled on 24 unanswered points after Zaidas replaced Gordie at the 30-minute mark, with Zaidas staying on for the rest of...

    Callum Dowell

Really impressive player. He’s been consistently Manly’s best in Flegg this year and is playing a year up—still eligible again next season. One of the few who debuted in Flegg last year, so he’ll finish with three full seasons in the comp. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him crack NSW Cup at some...

    Jake T.

I originally raised Jake’s statistical decline and projected value in direct response to Michael Chammas’ SMH article (June 3), which reported that Manly are preparing to offer him a one-year extension for 2027 worth $500k–$550k. That’s still 18 months away. So if it’s too early to speculate...

    Jake T.

And that’s exactly part of the problem. In the past, Jake’s tackling technique was always elite — rarely getting his head in the wrong spot when tackling. Now, he’s had three concussions in his last 12 games. That’s a very telling stat and, to me, indicates even further the decline in his game...

    Jake T.

He isn’t even in the top 50 for total tackles or average tackles per game this year. Simpkin is Manly’s best at 33 tackles per game. I think Jake T’s impact is significantly overstated by many on this forum. People keep looking for reasons to justify why he should remain in the team because they...

    Jake T.

I will do a deep dive on the decline of Jake’s stats over the last 7 years for those of who you still believe he has something valuable to offer the team. 2018: Averaged 135m per game, 97% tackle efficiency. 7 tries, 14 offloads, 22 tackle breaks for the season. 2019: Averaged 122m per...

    NSW Cup 2025

For anyone that is interested in the stats from last night’s game Arthur: MOTM with 13 runs for 68m, 3 LBA, 5 TA, 2 offloads, 485 kick metres and 14 tackles with 2 misses. Lodge: 20 runs for 183m, 72 PCM, 30 tackles with 2 misses. 67 minutes played. Navale: 10 runs for 85m, 32 tackles...

    NSWRL CUP

He was only on the field for 10 minutes but he had 2 runs for 7 metres, with 5 tackles and zero missed. I thought it was pretty strange for him to come straight into NSW cup considering he’s only 18 still and has only played SG ball and a few games of Flegg for the knights so far. Fair few...

    Pre-Game Manly V Broncos [Round 13, 2025]

He’s a very very smart footy player mate. I’ve watched plenty of him in reserve grade and there’s a reason he has won our players player and best and fairest two years in a row now. His hit ups have improved significantly, doesn’t get smashed anymore. I would say his yardage carries are just as...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

Any chance someone could please post the full article here? Would be very interesting to read. Seems as though every so called ‘expert’ has either been too scared or too dopey to call out DCE’s shocking defence, despite Manly’s right edge defensive record being one of the worst in the...

    NSW Cup 2025

Definitely have to cut Navale some slack there considering he played 15 minutes in first grade and backed it up with 80 minutes at lock in reserve grade less than a day later. Normally he barely misses a tackle. And Zaidas is coming along really nicely by the looks of it. Improving his stats in...

Surely Kylan Mafoa has got to be close to making a return to NSW Cup. Think that might’ve been either his third or fourth game in Shield since returning from his injury. Has anyone got any inside info?

On a positive note, good to see 5 of Manly’s juniors selected in the NSW CIS 18s boys squad. Full squad is listed here. Maybe this is why we had no one selected in the 18s city v country squads? Not too sure how it all works. Maybe school footy takes priority here.
