Some stats to get excited about

Also if you add the digits in 2021 you get five and it took five rounds for us to get our first win. Five plus five equals 10 and it has been 10 years since our last premiership, so the numbers all point to us. The LWWW has been mentioned a few times but this now has me very concerned about our...

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

With Jake finding his ball-playing touch last night (I am not sure he has had a better game for us in attack) and Walker also doing a bit of that Schuster has been a bit relegated to tackling and hit ups. Hopefully he can still produce something special when we need it

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

I feel that Schuster's talents are being wasted hitting it up (which is not his forte) and tackling. Another idea might be to start Paseka and have Keppie in the second row (which gives our pack great punch) and then rotate in Schuster to have a bit of freer hand. I think the problem is that we...

    Harper, Schuster & Olakau'atu

Ola was good tonight but he always seems to get the ball flat-footed. Like to see him run onto it more

    Keppie

Keppie has been so good since coming back. I hope he starts again. I also think Paseka could start with Keppie at second row and rotate in Schuster, which might help freshen him a bit and restore some of his attacking edge

Harper's been so bad he needs to go

Harper responded well but he didn't have Olam to contend with. Tedesco ran around him for one of their only breaks of the night. On the whole Easts played one match too many and Souths will be a much tougher proposition. Still good to see us winning in September again as we should.

Game Day: Manly v Roosters [Finals Week 2, 2021]

Now you call the bloody Rooster forward passes. #2013stillstings

    Can Harper fight back ?

I remember when we cracked the finals in 2005 with a young squad and Timana Tahu gave Matai a bath at centre as we were blitzed by Parra. Matai obviously went on to be more remembered for his defence than attack, so I don't write off Harper. What I would say is twice against the Storm they have...

If we don’t beat the Roosters, this season will be a failure.

I wouldn't call it a failure - I've enjoyed it greatly from round 5 onwards and anything to relieve the lockdown gloom (I live in Melbourne) is fantastic. But it would be disappointing considering how this side has captured the imagination, not just of us Manly fans but I think the whole league...

    Resting Players Works

You earn the luxury of resting players. If we had lost to the Cowboys and come fifth I see no guarantee we wouldn't have put up a bumbling performance against the Titans, who played about as well they could, and been out in one. Let's see if the theory holds with Parra. On the brighter side our...

    Harper, Schuster & Olakau'atu

It's probably the worst Manly player performance in a big game since Wolfie in the 2013 GF. I take no satisfaction in saying that I like both players

    Morgan Harper

Perhaps third time's a charm but twice the Storm have primarily attacked Harper's side (Bromwich scored near identical tries) and the second time it went even better for them. I just don'[t fancy giving them a third go. Yes Harper laid a hand on Olam but that was about it. I don't say this with...

    Changes

This is just forum talk because I know Des is nothing if not loyal and values steadiness. But if you were to make radical - "hail mary" let's try something changes (and I never coolly thought we would win it this year, of course I sometimes I got swept up by hope) this is what I would do. Our...

    Morgan Harper

Harper probably deserves a shot at redemption but clearly every other side will target him from now on. Also he just can't go up against Olam again, he is no physical match. Probably has to be Suli for all his sometimes waywardness

Wings and a prayer: Saab’s tribute to woman who ‘supported me all my life’

Lovely story. I watched the film Race last night about Jesse Owens and his coach got him special shoes to run in the Berlin Olympics from the maker who later became Adidas. Owens did alright in them, I hope Saab bags four tries in tribute.

    Who damages Turbo tonight?

Mods I request you remove this thread as bad luck. It wasn't so long ago I peered through my fingers every time Turbo ran the ball, expeccting the back of the thigh clutch and then crumble. Also the Crocker hit is too bad a memory. Today he'd be sent off, then it wasn't even a penalty

Huh, come back as reserve grader. That means I don't get to play at all now!

    Jake the tryscorer

I heard that Manly never lost when both Stewart brothers scored. Maybe that's true of Tom and Jake? Been the case the last two matches but only just against the Warriors. I don't claim any of this is backed by actual research.
