Game Day: Sharks V Manly [Round 6, 2025]

Be good to honour Haumole with a win in his 100TH first grade appearance for the club.

Surely Spencer doesn’t get in trouble for this one.. BREAKING: “YOU F***WIT” Spencer Leniu verbally abuses NRL legend Jonathan Thurston clash after Roosters win 26-16 over Broncos.

    Pre-Game Sharks V Manly [Round 6, 2025]

A fair few of the other 16 players could learn a thing or two watching how much aggression Haumole tackles with, gone passive the middles and hopefully they have some intensity with their defence tomorrow.

    2026 recruitment & retention

Yes I seen him play in round one against the Bulldogs and last week against the Eels, good ball runner who bends the line, solid enough in defence and has a good offload, the Dragons are stacked with young edge and middle forwards, the pick is probably Halangahu but he is signed longer term...

    NRL Games [Round 6, 2025]

Panthers lacking aggression in their defence, Martin and Henry have a decent crack though they look to be in need of a dominant front rower, JFH is a bigger loss than I originally thought.

    2026 recruitment & retention

The Dragons have some very good younger forwards that looks impossible for them to keep them all and bring them into first grade in the same time frame. Finau Latu and Nick Tsougranis off contract at the end of season, and would have a clearer path to first grade at Manly, competing with Egan...

    Jamal Fogarty

Strange that the club when they recruited Arthur they haven’t put the effort in developing him into this backrow role that they purchased him for. He goes to the line very well and can create opportunities, I would have liked the club to have given him an opportunity in the backrow to see how...

    The Haumole Bible.

That was a great debut, there was something about him back then, poor old Dessie going for JetSki after that debut was hard to fathom back then. If he can convince his Tongan team mate in Katoa to join from the Dolphins that would make a great week!

Lack of Mobility in the pack stood out

It took me a while to see this in Ben T and the thread on him to 13 changed my mind after watching him this season, I think you could get a good 50-55 minutes out of him in the middle.

    Pre-Game Sharks V Manly [Round 6, 2025]

They had a few good young forwards that were a priority over Tevega.

Lack of Mobility in the pack stood out

That first 20 minutes the Storm dominated the ruck and made the middle forwards look even slower, when Bully and Brown came on they managed to wrestle the middle back and got some good go forward and ruck speed. The take away for me from that game is Bully needs to be tried as a starter, I...

    Pre-Game Sharks V Manly [Round 6, 2025]

Navale is a development player, though the wording has changed from development to supplementary player. Supplementary List players (formerly known as development players) are eligible to play in the NRL from Round 1 of the season. This is a key distinction from the "Training Contracts"...

    Massive turning point today

They also had a large turnover of players that have enabled them to do that, they had nothing to lose as they were running at the bottom end of the table. The Dogs were ruthless in cutting players and moving them on, maybe that’s what’s needed at the club and they are starting with letting DCE...

    Massive turning point today

Storm dominated the middle, made way more post contact meters and bent the manly defensive line, they won the ruck and the game with more enthusiasm running the ball and more intensity with their defensive efforts. Replacing Tent is not easy with the current squad, Sipley with his running game...

    [Resurrected] Paseka

Could be a long season without Tent against the better forward packs, got dominated in the middle and missed Tents ability to bend the defensive line. The forwards apart from Bully, Haumole and Ben T were easy pickings for the Storm and they were without Nelson.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Storm [Round 5, 2025]

I agree they didn’t lose today because of DCE it was in the middle of the field where they were dominated. Problem is there is no middlemen worth bringing into first grade that is in the 30 man squad, the cupboard is bare and a couple of the train and trial players look more likely than a few...

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Storm [Round 5, 2025]

The journos took it easy on DCE and Seibold in the post match press conference. Definitely lost the physical battle up front, could do with a bit of mad dog in the pack while Tent is out, Sykes could be worth a role of the dice, though he is on a train and trial deal.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Storm [Round 5, 2025]

Bully only 34 minutes again today, needs to be playing 50 minutes at least, with Brown back Bully has had his minutes reduced two weeks in a row. The absence of Tent was highlighted today, Haumole, Ben T and Bully only challenged the Storm defensive line. Thought Brown looked better than Jake...

    Burbo to lock?

The more I see Ben play I am of the view he would make a decent middle forward, he had a good first forty today with plenty of involvement. The second forty had a couple of moments he needs to work on, he looked gassed and he didn’t look like an 80 minute player once the fatigue got him.

I missed the Saab injury, any details? I would like to see big Nav get a shot in first grade if they can upgrade him to a developmental contract.
