    Manly - the 2013 version

Nice work Gazman. Rabbits lacked some experience in the spine and just lost their way under pressure. In some ways the flying start was the worst thing that could have happened to them in the game. But overall you got a powerful squad and are well coached so we should be expecting to see you...

    Wolfman

Hope I don't jinx him at the 11th hour, but it's been great to go through a season where Wolfie hasn't been struck down with some severe and bizarre injury. Looking forward to him dining out on some more goodies from Lyon and Snake, but that catch-pirouette-put down at full speed the other...

just want to say this - please agree

some of us fans might be overconfident but I can't see the players being so: we are 0-3 against them this year, we've been there done that in GF week.

    Roosters Early Favorites.

Roosters deserve favouritism as minor premiers, beat us in the first week, etc. They have much more experience in key positions than the rabbits (who lost their heads out there) and are the toughest opponent since the cheating storm side of 2007 GF. But our blokes with snake at the back, and all...

Brett Stewart our most important player ever?

Bozo would have to stay as the most influential player for me. As to no.1s, Wombat and Snake are very different players and it's hard to rank them overall, but in terms of influence/game reading/ball playing snake is on top.

    The spirit of 1978

In 78 there was no interchange so the endurance asked for was enormous. The intensity is higher these days, with the speed of the games, the muscle power of players leading to higher impacts more often, etc. Very hard to imagine a side repeating the 78 effort of 2 mid-week replays these days.

My reply to the cowboys whining

Suck it up dudes; we had one in a GF that was pretty much the game decider (95). Media response: big shrug of the shoulders. When we got one our way it helped us to a semi final replay win (78). Media response: Screamed blue murder. Cop it sweet and go and win something; it will make you feel...

    Stewart or Hiku?

That is tricky; be a crime to see him dip out of the 17. Such a cool head, time to stitch him up to a good deal.

    Stewart or Hiku?

No brainer man; if he's fit enough to play (no point if he's limping about). We is gonna need everything we got, especially experience, as there will be a let down after the intensity vs the roosters.

    How disappointing

Haven't seen it, but Lyon said post-game we dropped the ball too much and are our own worst enemies at the moment. Was this right? another instance of mentally switching off around 20 - 60 mins period?

Collingwood supporter pulled out for racist remark

Eddy: idiot. This whole thing: the incident itself but moreover it's afterlife as a major media event is of a particular, sadly predictable kind--the scapegoating: it's those ignorant working class people that are racists, not the system, the constitution (until recently acknowledged), the...

Big bopper and 30 June deadline

I think Georgie's going allright now he's a bit more match fit. Gower got the early running in firsts so he looks to be next cab off the rank if injuries strike again. liked his work the other night--was on for 1 minute, made a huge break and got half his eyebrow ripped off....

    Skivvy's hit!

Randall vs Matai: both relatively lightweight in comparison to many of their victims. Randall, better overall defender. Matai, better extreme hit merchant (one exception: Randall on Dallas Donnelly, 1978 preliminary final, Dallas hitting it up from a tap penalty)

Gosh we make it hard for ourselves

Raiders started to make the silly mistakes just about the time we had done everything to make it possible for them to finally break our defence down. As DCE said post-match you can't keep relying on your defence to compensate for the mistakes and lack of pressure on the opponents. Good time...
