The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

No compromise. You then have to ask yourself just what it is you are doing here. Do you watch, follow or support your club? What do those words mean? What is it about my club that I am a fan/supporter/follower of? It's Manly Warringah Sea Eagles from Brookvale Oval in Maroon and White. That is...

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

Nobody watched the Beagles. I don't think I ever saw a game of theirs. If it happens to enough clubs, they'll have to think about winning their "customers" back. If they just want Rooters, Dogs & Bongos, they're going the right way about it.

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

Why do you think marginalising the fans by ripping them off 4 more games would entice them to come out in bigger numbers? Do you think we have no pride? I'd tell them to stick it up their arse. Give me what i demand or get stuffed.

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

Same at SFS but that is harder to get to so the crowds would be even lower. At least Brooky is generally a good place to watch footy. SFS and Homebush are never, ever, under any circumstance good places to watch footy.

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

How do they make money if nobody watches it? They move the games, we stop going. Simple. Just like with the Beagles taking two clubs averaging 12 - 15k and turning it in to one club averaging 5k with a bit of fiddling. If nobody goes to the games and nobody watches them on TV because they...

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

Are you insane? You think a tactic of starving us for footy to make us thankful for showing benevolance in the most minimal of ways is appropriate?

NSW govt commits to stadia build

We're getting sold out here and it's a sickening inside job. Our own local members, der kommendant und der fuhrer. Our own game's administration. And our own clubs owners. These are the people screwing us over. You'd like to think it would be the TV networks, some MP's from out of the area...

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

That would mean that Fridays would be at Moore Park. I'd say Friday's and Mondays at Brookie. Weekends at Moore Park so there's time to get there. And for that, only 2, not 6.

The future of NRL clubs in Sydney

Anybody who says it's viable for Manly to play at the SFS has obviously never tried to get into the city during the peak period from the Northern Beaches on a Friday night. Homebush is even harder. The only way it could work is to delay game time until 8:30. Then people would say it's too...

Living in Qld and being a Manly supporter

They have no real passion for their artificial club. Origin seems to be more important to them than club footy. It seems weird but I guess from their perspective it has 8 years more history than their club, so maybe it does make sense, in a "who are ya" kind of way. Denigrating their own team...

    Active Supporter Group

How about you come up on the hill next year and talk to the guys with and around the banners & flags about it. They've all been around for many years (most going back to the 80's & 90's, some of the old boys even longer) and been part of this sort of thing in one way or another many times. You...

Which code of football are you comparing to? The ball can travel 100m in soccer with nothing actually happening. In League from one tackle to the next the crowd's job can change from pointing out an offside defensive line, to highlighting a player taken out then to a high shot. All this can be...

    Spellings for 2016

Goff Torver made an appearance on one of the 725 bookface groups. I thought it might have taken off, like "let's gone Torver"

Who is our new recruitment manager?

Shouldn't they thank Manly for giving them all thise players then? Didn't they come last when we were forced to pull out? It was a one way street. I don't see how it matters which comp our reggies play in. I just don't get how they can be ready for first grade in Sydney if they have a game in...

    Active Supporter Group

Where were you when others tried it? It's been done and doesn't work. Rugby League changes too quickly. You start a song to react to one thing and by the time you're finished three other things have happened. It's pretty hard to put pressure on the refs for offside etc if you're still singing...

Who is our new recruitment manager?

That's a bit too much credit to give the Sunshine Coast. They didn't produce anyone. They were just our reserve grade team for a couple of years but based interstate. Parra produced Hodko through their 20's. Manly bought him as backup and he played reggies on the Sunshine Coast. DCE was signed...

Given the size of the potential supporter bases of both the swines and donleys, I'd say those figures are just as poor as the Sydney NRL clubs. We should be looking at the Demons, Hawthorn and Richmond (constant battlers, constant success and new found success) if we want to compare our clubs...
