At the Game Tonight Club Management made it not secret that they have intentions to bring in NRLW in 2027 which is great news for us. It was suggested that the board will target respected administrator Hanna Clare to return to Manly after being head hunted by Newcastle.
KIERAN Foran has emerged as one of the Warriors’ major targets for the 2016 season. The Kiwis five eighth, who featured in the 14-]12 win over Samoa on Saturday, is off contract with Manly at the end of next year. The 24-year-old combined superbly with Shaun Johnson in last week’s historic win over the Kangaroos, giving a taste of what the duo could produce if they were united at Mt Smart Stadium. “He’s a player every club would like to have,” Warriors general manager football Dean Bell said. “He will be hot property on the market and Manly will also be keen to keep him. But players like him don’t come on the market very often and we would be daft not to have a look at him. “We will be talking to a number of players but he would be...
HIGH-profile Sea Eagles recruit Feleti Mateo spent Wednesday house hunting on the northern beaches. His next pressing matter will be finding a home in Manly’s starting pack ahead of the 2015 NRL season. With dual premiership winners Glenn Stewart and Anthony Watmough moving on to the Rabbitohs and Eels respectively, the 29-year-old knows he has big shoes to fill. “With those blokes going, there is a big hole there,’’ Mateo told the Manly Daily. “Plus I was attracted to the culture at the club – they are tight-knit and just seem to get the job done every season. “Everything happened quickly, but now that it is sorted, I can’t wait to rip in. “I know a few of the boys well — Justin Horo from my Parramatta days, Jamie Buhrer and...
The record ratings for the NRL grand final have effectively killed off any hope of the game being returned to a daytime slot. The decider between South Sydney and Canterbury was a ratings bonanza for the Nine Network, which secured a five-city average audience of 2,597,000 and a peak of 3,098,000. Those figures are the highest for an NRL game since OzTam ratings began. Read More
Clinton Gutherson has his eye on the maroon and white No.1 jumper Brett Stewart has called his own for the past decade at Manly, but for now he is happy to be learning at the feet of his childhood hero. The born and bred Northern Beaches product will have to be content with a green and gold variation for the time being as he lines up for his second year at fullback with the Junior Kangaroos. SMH: Brett Stewart's charms can’t save Manly Sea Eagles Malcolm Knox - SMH September 19 2014 Brett Stewart has been the most valuable rugby league player of the past 10 years. There is only one stat to back this assertion, but it's not a bad one: in the two seasons since 2008 that Stewart has been injury-free, his team has won the premiership. Can that be said about any other player? Not Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston, Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Darren Lockyer, Jarryd Hayne or any other of the claimants in this golden age of league talent. Only about Stewart can it be said that when he is fit and firing, his team wins the big prize. Read More [hr]Don't like the title but a lovely piece of writing... Knox is spot on, He...
