The northern beaches glamour beat 500 wannabe Cowboy cheerleaders, across a gruelling eight-week audition process, to make the 34-strong squad.
Monique Carroll, who mentored Ms Nicotera at the Sea Eagles’ cheer squad, announced the news today and said the 26-year-old was in shock.

“I just got off the phone to her and she’s just beyond excited ... she’s in shock and can’t believe this has actually happened,” Mrs Carroll said.
“She’s the first Australian to become an American sweetheart, as they call it over there, and she’s made it to the best of the best squads.”
Mrs Carroll said Ms Nicotera did not have an easy audition process, injuring her pelvis and dealing with the death of a relative back in Australia.
