When all wingers are fit, who will miss out?

Hoppa is a 100% certain to be in the side somewhere imo. He is insurance for Snake which is an important consideration.

As much as we all like Robbo he is slow for a winger. What does not show up in the stats is how often he gets run down when he is in space and how often he is unable to to catch oppossing players when they have made a break. I am sick of watching him escort oppossing players to line rather than catching them. He has been great for our club however I would prioritise Wolf and Oldfield for next year.

While i agree his speed is not a strong point he has very good defense and does the little things very well. I guess it depends what suits the team better and i know Manly pride themselves on their defense.

While no one is going to argue that Robbo is a burner, there is something to be said for a player being good enough to not get themselves into a situation where they need to rely on their speed to bail them out.

Off the top of my head I can't think of an instance where Robbo's shoddy defending & consequently poor pursuit have cost us (not saying that Robbo hasn't had any clangers in D, just that none come to mind). The Soward try is the most prominent incident in peoples minds & I would argue that D.Williams wouldn't have caught Soward in that situation either.

All in all I think the Robbo has no speed thing is a myth, he is by no means a speedster but he has adequate pace for the position. He & Hoppa should be our wingers for the remainder of the year, assuming all are fit.

For the record I think that Robbo does not get re-signed at the end of the year & our starting wingers next year will be Oldfield & Williams - but for now Robbo is our best option IMO.

Yeah agree torana - I guess its horses for courses. Robbo is very solid in most aspects but does not have the potential to create opprtunites that the others have. However Robbo does not make the errors that Wolf or Oldfield make. I guess Des will make his selections based on what his game plan is. I assume that Hoppa will be the first winger picked and that Olfield will be lowest in the pecking order so that it will come down to Wolf or Robbo.

i cant believe Hoppa has had 14 votes WTF :dodgy:
I dont give a fuk about next yr or two yrs from now i just care about the 2011 season..
One of the best up & coming juniors in this country if not the world & you ppl want to sit him out..
:-/

Robbo's try saving tackle in the Knights game today is a prime example of what he does so well, saving a try is as good as having the speed to score a try.

Wolfman as been going great, but I'd have Hoppa and Robbo.

If there is an injury to either a wing or a centre (or Matai gets suspended again) there won't be any dramas

It's tough, but I'd say Hoppa Jnr.

Robbo is still a machine, proven, experienced and solid.

Wolfman is tearing it up lately, really staking a claim for his spot in the starting side - if he continues this in the coming several weeks it will be a big part of on-field Manly success.

But yea, Hoppa could do just the same and Robbo might find himself stepping down occasionally.

Id have Hoppa on the bench. extra fresh spark, ability to cover a range of positions, and if we do have games won early / are injury free, i'd be giving foran a couple of well deserved early marks since he's played every game so far like a machine, hoppa off the bench into centre, lyon into 5/8 to close out any games that are won early on. not like we lose anything out of that, and keeps foz that little bit fresh in these few rounds before we start the charge.
