Why does the NRL favour certain teams?

I know we played poorly, too many errors and inexperience told …. BUT please tell me if I’m wrong, the new secret to the Scum‘s success this year is to be constantly offside … and they don’t get penalised.

Just about every first and second tackle, they are miles offside. That unfair advantage is enough to beat any team.

Am I wrong? Am I deluding myself as a one-eyed Sea Eagles fan?
That’s exactly what Des said last week, the 10m had become very skinny and he would talk to the refs.

They obviously had their speakers turned off or muted him.

The best teams put the refs under pressure by constantly playing at the edge. Just like the Aussie cricketers in the Warne and McGrath era got the rub of the green because they asked more questions.

But really, Teams like Melbourne just know that the refs are not going to call a six again against them every set so infringe with impunity. The refs are backed into a corner on this - if they do penalise them, they will be criticised for not 'having a feel for the game' and ruining the spectacle. They are doing what their masters tell them.

I am not defending the refs, but the NRL could back them to just blow penalties whenever there is an infringement. However, we have already been down that path and we know how that ended.

All about $$$ introduced by Greenberg is my belief. Look at the winners who won those years, they were all the media darlings at the start of the year and had most news coverage.

I am very jaded about this topic and biased. But 2 examples.

Sharks, media all year. They were over salary cap every year but the one they won.

South's, they were using a product banned by the NFL for providing an unfair advantage. Nrl refused to rule on it until a couple of weeks after the south's win and in a short sharp hearing was ruled illegal. Chips I think they were called, demonstrated by Matt shirvington I believe to show that athletes using them can essentially run for hours with minimal fatigue...ever wonder why their forwards ran as strong at the 80th min as the first that year?

Ref's were just adjudicating to the preconceived story
