Walking for a cause
Plenty of people are talking about the alarming rate of suicide in both society and rugby league – but former Manly fullback Shannon Nevin has decided to do something about it.
Nevin is urging stars – current and former – to show their support for suicide prevention in a special walk on Manly’s northern beaches from Queenscliff to Shelly Beach next Sunday.
“I’m encouraging any former rugby league players to join hands and support my Walk’n’Talk and prevent suicide on our beaches,” Nevin says.
“We all know players who have suffered depression and it might even have been you.
“Let’s not let a teammate become a statistic and I really hope to see you there.
“Let your feet do the walking and your mouth do the talking!”
