Thought I needed a laugh so I went over to read through a few of the Kennel posts..
They are right onto the fraud that Mr Zoolander is
BUT they had a couple of posts in their general football forum that I found interesting read:
Post 1 -who’s the player that they dislike the most... the biggest flog... King Gutho and That Souths wank Walker top the list... only manly player to get a mention was DCE and Walks..
Post 2- who can beat the storm- and many of them say Manly or actually hope it’s Manly
Post 3- they name 5 or 6 fullbacks and ask who is the best (Slater.Hayne,Barba,Tom etc) and many favour Tom and one guy even mentions Snake being better than Slater...
After that read I actually feel sorry for them having Zoolander .. only for a minute though 😜😂🤣

Sure you were at the kennel? Comments seem far too rational and considered.

True RL enthusiasts know that Snake was superior to Slater.
I think if both had their best day out, Snake was more damaging. Prior to Snake's injury woes, he had a higher ceiling than Slater too; meaning had he stayed injury free, he'd have finished with more accolades than Slater. Alas, he got injured repeatedly and lost a yard of pace and ended up playing the back-end of his career crippled.

But...the narrative says Slater finished with more tries, more games, more premierships and is generally considered a superior player.

So, I guess there are supporting arguments for both sides. On potential, Snake every day of the week but the books say Slater...

Snake had a better strike rate than Slater in club matches:

Snake - 233 games, 163 tries = 70%
Slater - 323 games, 191 tries = 60%

I don't mind the kennel.
Especially the funny photo thread. Always get a laugh from it.
They have a huge amount of people on there so always something to read about.
Anyone know any other fan forum as good?.
I try to read oneeyeeel sometimes but it's layout is confusing as hell.

All valid points Snake...agreed 100% on all the above....I actually believe Snake had him in every aspect (when fully fit) bar 1 area...
The area I feel Slater had Snake was a certain part of his support play....Snake had the equally amazing timing along with Slater to zoom up in support....but have never seen a fullback/player make as many effort plays as Slater, pushing up as a support player everywhere and all day.....everyone seemed so suprised "where did he come from" well he only got the ball 1 out of every 20 times he was pushing up in support, but simply went unnoticed because he didn't get the ball.
Not a Slater fan for many reasons, but his effort as a support player was off the charts.

Agree that Slater was an excellent support player, and I may have the maroon and white goggles on, but I think the best support player I have seen is our very own Tommy T…

Tommy has impecable vision and probably matches the Slater support timing and reads the show is on, but for numbers, Slater was hard to Top

100%. I mentioned in my OP that he would have outpointed Slater, had he remained injury free. When you consider how many of his 163 tries came before his crippling injuries, he'd have given Irvine a shake at full fitness throughout his career. In saying that, durability is a big part of being a champion player. If we count things like speed and smarts as attributes that make a player, then the physiology of a player (what determines their ability to repeatedly get on the field at peak fitness) should be considered also. This is where the likes of DCE and Scam Smith have been fantastic; longevity. Unfortunately, Snake fell down in this area...i'm not implying it was down to his lack of willingness, he was a real fighter, but just like speed is a gift, so too is a body that holds up to the demands of week in, week out RL.

I would also add that he had a far superior kick return to Snake. He used to catch so many balls on the full and run them back full pelt. Stewart used to crab towards the opposition and surrender.
