Winging it
BRETT Stewart played his one and only Test four years ago but the Manly fullback could be on the verge of a remarkable recall to representative football as national selectors consider taking him on the Four Nations tour as a back-up to Billy Slater.

But in to many peoples eyes Slater is better..... Slater is a great fullback, but i think Stewarts form is better at the moment, safer defence, more involved in attack. I would prefer he have the spring off to rest for next year.

If Slater had played well, Melbourne would have beaten the Kiwi's, it was his defensive lapses and errors in judgment that cost them at least one try, and his ineffective attack that kept them pinned in their own end. Smith and Cronk were to blame as well no doubt but Slater was well below his best, and has been for months, which is why it is an absolute travesty that he won the Dally-M.

They are both great attacking fullbacks but it is evident that Stewart is a safer and a stronger defender .
