Yes I understand but he also had discipline issues and that was what I was referring to .
Players need to be 100% focused and committed to their game if they want to give them selves a great chance to be at their best on the field .

I was a junior around the club at this time and I recall his "discipline issues" were all addiction related. I do see your far related analogy though.
He was a pretty good guy. RIP buddy.

I get the picture Bozo , in the sense theres a potential wasted talent for whatever the reason....I just feel Suli could be a suprise packet under Des, Ballin and co....have heard good things, but we wont really know till he shows us on the field.

I still remember that Cronulla game....1 try was a chip and chase and he leaped above a Sharks player to catch the ball in goal, after it bounced back "Phil Blake" style.
Had a black headband on that day.
RIP Champ

Red tape around the scone

Thank you @eagle66 for the clip .
This guy could kick goals , had a great kicking game , had great vision to set up play and also had individual brilliance blessed with skill and explosive SPEED that left the opposition for DEAD .
That was a 10 out of 10 faultless performance from a 20 year old . If it was not for his off field issues he could have easily been another Johnathan Thurston if not better !

Thanks so much, it was a truely an awesome game watching a rookie give it to the Roos Captain Pierce's team

This snippet only shows one cheeky kicking of the ball away from the opponent. But Rick tormented all the big name Sharks players all game - really drove their forwards crazy :p

Saw this on Facebook. Very sad news.

Former Manly Sea Eagles halfback Rick Chisholm passed away yesterday after a long illness, aged 48.

Chisholm has lived on the Gold Coast for several years and has struggled in recent times with liver problems.

A former manly junior Chisholm burst into first grade with dynamic effect in 1980 and scored all 17 points in a win over Cronulla at Brookvale Oval.

A brilliant runner with the ball Chisholm played 27 first grade games with the club over three seasons and spent a season with the Newtown Jets.

The funeral service for Rick Chisholm will be held next Monday, March 5 at Tweed Heads Crematorium Chapel at 12 noon.

Hopefully the boys observe a minutes silence tomorrow night. He was a very handy player.

Rick played for NSW as a School boy ( with my brother and vs Wally Lewis ) .He was born in 1959 , and died in February, 2007.
Very old story , great fellow with great talent .RIP Roderick Chisholm.

I’m lost - it’s 2019 NOW, right?

Turns out he died in 2007.

It's because Manly started a twitter thread that had us revisit our favourite memories.

Us oldies wanted to relive the brief but brilliant career of Rick as he made such an impact in that 17-14 game against the Sharks at Brookie.

Too me it's as indelible as the 2008 GF Beaver try.

Because as the game progressed, against what in those days was a formidable Sharks glamour Team, this rookie just kept piling on the points in a myriad of ways.

The field goal was the real
'Get that Up You!'
