As for Brown, I’ve never liked the ridicule some have given him. I always saw a player that tried his hardest, was respectful and cared about the team. Nothing but respect from me and I thank him for his service.

Well said. Brown did his best and is certainly not the worst player we've had. He's had a sad family life and mental health issues which he's admirably coped with. I wish him all the best for his future.

Speaking of Brown leaving, brought to mind our last game at Brookie when some of the boys were doing a farewell lap after the game. Marty turned and noticed him walking along on his own and went over, put his arm around him and spoke to him. Feeling sad no doubt...

Gus released Brown to us when he was past his best and as a Manly supporter it was frustrating to see his mediocre efforts .
I never liked Brown as a Player but as a person I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life .

I think they might have meant Chris Bailey. Phil's brother. He was brought here to partner Orford in the halves.

Phil was actually a very good player. Played for manly/northern eagles at about 19 or 20 years of age but left because he wasn't getting paid. Made nsw and Australian teams because of the ability to play both centre and back row. Pretty decent career at the Sharks then killed it for Wigan. He liked a good time.
