A young gay Manly player has been devastated by the stance taken by seven of his club-mates to stand down this weekend rather than wear the club's pride jersey.

The players on Monday decided to boycott the clash with the Roosters, refusing to wear the jersey, which supports the LGBTQ community.

But their stance has left a promising young homosexual Sea Eagle, who has not yet come out publicly, devastated.

"He is a good young player coming through the grades and just wanted to play first grade for Manly," a close friend of the player told Wide World of Sports.

"But this move by the players has shocked him. He thought they would accept him for who he is if he ever decided to make his sexual preferences public - clearly that is not the case.

"He has been devastated by this turn of events - the pride jumper is supposed to be a sign of hope and inclusion.

"The fact that half the team would boycott it rather than play has deeply saddened him.

"They have no problem supporting gambling on their jumpers, which is a sin according to the Bible. But when it comes to homosexuality, they have a problem."

BS Media beat up for sure.

Google begs to differ.

'And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit' - Ephesians 5:18

'Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.' - Proverbs 20:1

'It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.' - Romans 14:21

'For he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.' - Luke 1:15

"But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." - 1 Timothy 6:9-10
Great RJ90, now you can google a few verses out of context and voila!, you're a Bible expert.

There is no prohibition against drinking alcohol. This furphy keeps getting brought up, gets knocked out and every dunderhead who wants to cry "Whatabout....!" brings it up again.

You may be on safer ground with gambling or Pointsbet but that would require thought, nuance, compassion and intelligence. Where are they found in this forum?

I've just been reading about the Samoan Fa'afafine & the Tongan Fakaleiti.

Very interesting that the strong familial bond within Samoan & Tongan culture allows for Fa'afafine & Fakaleiti to not only exist unhindered but encourages them to be a major part of their families to assist with the matriarchal roles within the household.

Even more interesting is that Fa'afafine have sexual relationships with men who are NOT Fa'afafine.

No way have any of these 7 players not been aware of homosexuality as part of their cultures.

Any abuse of the body (thy temple) is considered a sin, no?

Who says they won't accept him? We haven't even heard from the seven yet. That statement involves some Olympian sized hurdle jumping in logic. They do not oppose this young man. And they would welcome him into the team, no worries.
By all means disagree with these guys, but surely we've moved beyond emotional blackmail.

I missed out on the jersey so bought these cool undies instead ... $5 on special at the outlet store ... wife thinks I look great but she's biased

Well sorry mate, a quick google brought back this:

"Corinthians 6:19-20

Therefore honor God with your bodies.” These lines speak to taking care of your body. You should not harm that which was created by God in His image. Substance abuse of any kind certainly harms the body and the mind."

Woah, these 7 have said they will not wear the jersey because they disagree with its sentiment.

Why would a young, gay player think that means they'll welcome him with open arms?

Lots of us have good friends who hold diametrically opposite opinions. Why would they be any different?
