As 5/8 goes, I reckon:-
Mathew Head
Mickey Paea
Rangi Chase
Eddie Paea
Brett Finch
Scott Dureau
Russell Aitken
Jason Wells (at a stretch)
Terry Campese
Joel Moon (at a stretch)
Ben Rogers
Michael Dobson

Back row:-
Neville Costigan (similar to Tupou)
Jeremy Smith
Jacob Lillyman
Steve Southern
Carl Webb

OTHER to look at:-
David Shillington
Lopini Paea
Josh Morris
Brett Morris
Luke Douglas
Ben Hannant

Although the Morris boys are wingers, and we have plenty, I thought maybe:-

01. Brett Morris
02. Michael Bani
03. Jamie Lyon
04. Steve Matai
05. Josh Morris
06. Brett Stewart
07. Matt Orford

But I know that's WAY out there, and I realise Robertson is awesome as well.

We need a suitable replacement for beaver IMO. This has got to be his last season. He's doing himself a huge injustice if he plays on.

I say go for Hannant and Barrett if its possible.

Ryan I suggest we look at Rangi Chase/Ben Rogers/Terry campese - would come relatively cheap

Yeah I'd be looking at a 5/8th option.

Terry Campese, Joel Moon, Rangi Chase, Richie Williams, Russell Aitken, Chris Bailey are the ones i'd be looking at. They are all young and all have kicking and passing skills that we can build on.

Ryan, I'd love to see Mickey Paea play 5/8th. He'd have to be the worlds biggest.

Well there are plenty of 5/8ths on the market, if we dont sign one then you really have to start asking questions.

The worrying thing for me is that we seem to be gun ho on replacing beaver with a blue chip backrower and dont care as much about a 5/8th. We have decent backrowers in the depths, it wont be the end of the world if we dont get a replacement but our best 5/8 is 17 right now.

I reckon we are short of a top running second rower. Watmough and Stewart are both industrious and great forwards but we need some class and size for our third backrower, unless you reckon Willo is the man?

Cuthbo is not really a runner, he does hit the line but tries to offload constantly

In my opinion, that blue chip backrower is Tagataese . He is totally forgotten in the Melbourne pack, but physically he is bloody impressive. Good size/shape for a backrower and he's quick as well. The Storm have four forwards off contract (Tagataese, Jeff Lima, Sika Manu and Jeremy Smith), and they can't keep them all. Bellamy loves Tagataese and would be loathe to see him leave the club, but if we get in quick while the Storm work out who they can keep we might jag a real talent. Lima would be another one, but his star has risen a long way since the start of last year - his asking price wouldn't be cheap, and our prop depth is probably the best in the comp. Lima and Tagataese are the ones the Storm would want to keep - but it'd be worth a crack.

I still think Neville Costigan - when fit - he's ruthless. He's also a CURRENT State of Origin Back rower. If we were after Tupou - Costigan would do just as well, but be 1/2 the price.

I think this would be a great team:

01. Brett Stewart
02. Michael Robertson
03. Steve Matai
04. Jamie Lyon
05. Michael Bani
06. Rangi Chase
07. Matt Orford
08. Jason King
09. Matt Ballin
10. Brent Kite
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Neville Costigan
13. Glenn Stewart

14. Heath Le'Strange
15. Josh Perry
16. Adam Cuthbertson
17. Jarred Wearra-Hargreaves

Campese for sure.

He has good size age and skill. Notice a lot of 5/8's are quite large now.

Behind our forward pack and with Orford on one side him on the other.

Options! Options! Options!

Chase has been terrible for the Dragons. Not only has he not been playing well, but he hasn't been following orders.

He has no concept of thinking two plays ahead. Browny could outline the perfect gameplan for his team, but it is never going to work because once Chase gets the ball in his hands he does whatever he wants. The team might have worked the ball into the perfect position for a pet play on the right hand side but if Chase gets the ball then he is just as likely to ignore the whole set-up and head left.

Costigan is another player I wouldn't have a bar of. Bad track record off the field, has only delivered (partly delivered) one half decent season (his last one, at the Raiders) and was lucky to jag an Origin spot thanks to the Canberra connection (Meninga with Henry as assistant coach).

He's on his way to the Titans anyway, but he's a bad egg and not worth the trouble. Tagataese has the aggression and talent that Costigan brings without the baggage. Am I the only bloke who rates Sammy T? I feel like I'm talking to myself here...
