IT was 40 years ago that English star Malcolm Reilly first stepped on to Brookvale Oval after the Sea Eagles had paid a then record $30,000 transfer fee for the most exciting forward in the world.

I watched this bloke play at Brookvale Oval several times (refer the old farts thread). Zorba does not exaggerate. I've never seen a better forward in the time I've watched league. During his time at Manly he was at his peak. A bad knee curtailed his dominance prematurely but he continued for years at top level playing on one leg. One of my all-time faves.

He was tough all right. We had a great pack in those days!
