Here's what I never understood about this race. Every so called "expert'' comes out and says who is the sure thing to win, and every expert is different. So what makes one expert better than another expert, when most often all of them are wrong.

Vauban was the favourite to win and it finished 14th.
Could you imagine if someone like Gus Gould, Cronk, or Joey said at the start of a season that they are experts and honestly believe that this particular team will win the GF, and then they finished in 14th place. How long would whats left of their credability last?

Very true - I have mates who know what they ate for brekky and get it way wrong and yet the tea lady can like a name or colour the jockey is wearing and get it !
Personally I like it for atmosphere and some entertainment, but will keep as a social fun event, as winning is only a bonus and taking it too seriously would kill the fun.
