Manly joined the League in 1947, and in the 64 years to date have made it to 18 grand finals - on average making the GF every 3.5 years. They would have to be one of the leading clubs in that regard. It says a lot about dedication, hunger, professionalism and attracting/nurturing great players and coaches.

In the last 40 years, I make it 13 Grand Finals (1 every 3 years) and it could be 8 premierships in that time if we win Sunday (1 every 5 years)/

no doubt its the best record so far.

I think over time brisbane may eclispe it but hope they dont.

You would expect Brisbane to eclipse us with all the resources and player pool they have, the sooner another team is up there the better.

Absolutely outstanding. Even moreso when you consider what the club went through in the late 90's to mid 00's

since 1970 off the top of my head we have only missed the finals (not counting 2001-2002 when norths were involved)
2004
2003
2002
1999
1992
1989
1985 (play off)
1979 or 80

Manly Knows finals :)

I wouldn't be reading a lot into those statistics alone. Souths (the perennial failures) have been premiers or runners up 33 times in 103 seasons (not even taking into account the years they were out of the competition, which equates to one every 3.1 years. What makes Manly's accomplishments that much more successful is what they have done in the modern era. The old, successful clubs like Souths, St George, Balmain, etc. haven't done much in the last 30 or 40 years. Manly have been able to remain relatively successful while other clubs go up and down like yo-yos. No wooden spoons since our inception in 1947 shows that we never hit rock bottom before making a run back to the top. Canterbury have been the next most successful in the same period yet they've achieved wooden spoons between grand final appearances.
