Lawton a cowboi

Been watching Humphries closely in NSW Cup and the player he resembles the most is Lawton. Lots can happen in 10 months but I expect the plan is for B Bear/Bogart/Dumptey (my nominations for his non de plume) will be the permanent 14 in 2025.
Love Jamie Humphreys, but Gordy has also started to step up in the few NSW Cup games I've seen. I know there are questions about his defence, but I still think he's the most natural/instinctive dummy half we have at the club.

The thing JH has in his favour is he can add value at positions other than Hooker. Love Gordy and he is probably a better Hooker but playing him anywhere but hooker I just can't see and until his defence improves dramatically he's not going to displace Froggy. Carrying a specialist hooker to play 20 min max is a waste IMO.

Well they could have let the young pair go, kept Karl and used their coin for the upgrades, it’s not like the club has worried about letting our young players go, or so it seems.

Can never see Gordie tightening up our defence and bringing the same workload as Karl, Jamie maybe, but his still got a way to go before bringing what Karl brings, anyway done deal.

Least it looks like we have a vision, moving on some of the roster, freeing up some coin, hopefully we sign another quality player or 2.
I see us as a more viable destination now than in recent seasons due to our improved performances, for too many years post 2013 we have been a rabble, we're not there yet but we have shown we're a team on the way up and that's the main criteria for attracting quality instead of cast off's imo

It’s funny though , and the end of just year most in here thought he was a waste of cap space , and so did the club as they tried to unload him ( but couldn’t ).

I’ll grant you he’s been good this year and no doubt that’s why he got the Cowgirls offer.

Maybe related to his potential for injury.

Not hard to see why Payton likes him, injuries have the potential to be an issue, hopefully not, (especially for the rest of this year) he due a good run.

I think this move is more about what they see in Humphries than it is not appreciating Lawton. Can't keep them all. The move is not without risk but if we want JH long term then a position and eventually $ has to be freed up.

And I think JH has the potential to cover more than just hooker , so that would come into the calculations as well.

They could nickname him after Chuck Connors:

One of my favourite western series growing up. I still occasionally watch an episode on YouTube. Someone has uploaded every episode.
How many shots does he fire? - it was a question at a trivia night, I was the only one to get it right - won a pretty good Pinot Noir - I remember my brother and I lying on the floor counting the shots in the early 60's

THE LAWMAN

John Russell later played the chief baddie in Clint’s ‘Pale Rider’. Looks like Peggy Castle with him, who died back in the 1970s.

Peter Brown was also in ‘Lawman’. Later he co-starred in ‘Laredo’. Has to be one of the best tv western theme tunes ever:

I reckon he might have created a record tonight.

Most forward passes in 20 minutes.

Was it 3 or 4?

You have to love the song the Cowboys used to play at home games.

Im not sure if they really knew it was all about Cowboys getting it on.
