It is a game, we played well despite the odds and they won on the buzzer. There were about 10 points in the game that could have gone either way and with that last we may not have equalised or won.

Soooo end of the day they should have won by 8 with their missed goals. Luck gets you so far and I'm happy with how we played and whilst I'm disappointed with the loss, I'm satisfied with the result

You are winding your self up feathered friend . I was only stating that if our completion was better we would have won the game
If we had won by thirty we would have won by thirty...

However, we didn’t. We just put in a gutsy performance,..

We lost. **** decision at the end but we can move on and take pride in that game.

We didn’t give up.. we fought right till the last moment when the refs beat us.

You need to watch the game again and take it in context with our last couple of seasons.

We are building...

I agree with all that and I am very proud of our boys .

We could have easily won that game as we were always in it .

Speaking of luck both their tries came from kicks and the bounce of the ball went their way

There’s a difference in missing a few kicks and having the ref turn a blind eye to a penalty at the death of the game.

Frustrating to see. Totally a penalty under what the ref's have been doing all year. Doubly frustrating when we got penalised earlier in the game when Garrick(?) jumped for the ball, brushed the hands of a st whinge player going up and it was ruled taking the player out.

St george player stops, props, and puts his shoulder into Manly...but it's all ok.

Triply frustrating when they'll run to the vid ref checking on Parker's 'trip'.

If we lost fairly, I was still going to be satisfied with the effort, a 'happy' loss if there is such a thing.

But once again, to have the refs deliberately blow a chance at extra time for us, is just criminal.

Amazing how it's only this sport that I watch where I'm continually peeved at the ref and the nrl's bias. Every other sport I watch it's generally ok.

This is what annoys fans more, Greenberg, than your daughters touch footy team.

Even if the officials agree with the rest of the universe that it was a wrong call, where are those two points? Safely tucked away in St George's win column. That's the frustratingly helpless feeling of it all.

That is the thing most on here can cop getting beat fairly but when there are clear decisions and inconsistencies in how the refs are going about it it really does ruin the game.

We had enough ball to win that, 10-8 was never really going to be enough last night.

The boys will hurt after that and hopefully will see them more hungry and determined to play well next week at home against the raiders.

It's a shame the game ended this way for the referees, I thought that for 75 minutes it was easily the best ref performance in a Manly game for some time. It flowed, calls went both ways and it didn't seem scripted. Clearly they stuffed up at the end there, but I don't feel like we were robbed. We were lucky to be in that position from Lafai's terrible kicking and DCE would have had a tough shot from the sideline anyway.

It was the best game of footy I have seen involving Manly in some time. Both teams were allowed to actually play footy.

(?) ,Thinking that one was Fainu....But yes.

At any other time of the game it's a penalty, the ref bottled it big time and didn't want to make s decision and have the crowd on his back

Looking at the final st g try, what was suli doing? He wasn’t watching the ball, intent on touching the already dead centre.

I know Suli is the whipping boy, but it's a long stretch to blame him here.
He cant be everywhere, at the same time.

DCE: “You were willing to make the hard call when game wasn’t on the line but unfortunately that call needed to be made.”

Seriously ranks as one of the best on field comments to a referee by a Manly captain ever. To nail that in the heat and emotion at the end was spot on and done without swearing and screaming and throwing arms around.

VERY impressive stuff from DCE.

Been waiting a long time for NRL captains to start acting like a captain, including where necessary making it clear that the referees are not the El Supremo of a NRL game. The two captains should be - just like in Test cricket.

The NRL needs to remove from referees the option to call for a video replay. The video replay should be on a captain's call basis (maybe 1 per half) and be allowed for any incident, not just tries.

Manly coach Des Hasler says he’ll be speaking to referees boss Bernard Sutton in regard to the final play in his side’s narrow loss to St George Illawarra on Saturday night at WIN Stadium.

With the Dragons up 12-10, Daly Cherry-Evans put in a last-ditch cross-field kick which was taken cleanly by Red V winger Jordan Pereira.

Sea Eagles players immediately appealed to on-field referee Dave Munro about an escort by Tim Lafai who appeared to deny Reuben Garrick a fair crack at the ball, but no penalty was given and full-time blown.

“It was black and white, there an escort, a player taken off the ball,” Cherry-Evans complained to Munro.

“You were willing to make the hard call when game wasn’t on the line but unfortunately that call needed to be made.”

Cherry-Evans was referring to a decision Munro made four minutes earlier when Brad Parker was pinged for a trip on Euan Aitken.

Lafai, who has taken over kicking duties from the injured Gareth Widdop, had an off night with the boot missed three relatively easy kicks — including the Parker penalty — which also made the scoreline closer.

“That last kick, the escort, I will be taking that to Bernie Sutton because that sort of goes directly in the face of what they were talking about as far as running defenders off the ball. I thought it was questionable,” Hasler said.

“It’s not consistent with what they’ve been saying.

“(The Parker trip) was even more innocuous than (the escort). I thought they lacked consistency there.

“It’s a bit confusing when they say these are going to be the guidelines on the escort and they won’t rule on an escort there. It would’ve taken the game at least into golden point.”

Fox League expert Michael Ennis agreed with Hasler and said the referees should’ve blown a penalty.

“You see Tim Lafai there. He clearly stops and impedes Reuben Garrick, who, if given the opportunity, would get to the contest,” Ennis said.

“It’s as simple as that. It had to be checked at least.

“I think it’s a bad call. I think it’s the wrong call. I’d like to be proven otherwise, but for me that was a blatant escort penalty and Manly should have every right to be filthy.

“They got it right down the other end when Parker trips Aitken.

“It should’ve been checked.”

The Dragons’ win sees them make it eight wins from nine games against Manly at WIN Stadium, the Sea Eagles’ only victory coming in 2003.
When he was speaking to the refs - I was thinking a) he's not going to get anywhere but kudos for seriously challenging it, and b) this is why DCE is captain over Jake.

It’s a great idea. Video involvement only when captains think it’s a howler.Same system as cricket.

Tried it in a whole season of Toyota cup and worked well. Never heard of again.

Pretty sure it was tried in a dead rubber game involving Newcastle late in an NRL season as well. I remember Browny saying it was great with free flowing football and plenty of tries. Said he never received a follow up call.Refs have to make a call , games flow and the howlers like last night don’t happen.
Typical NRL.
