A PLAYER unwanted by the battling Parramatta Eels this season is in line to replace star forward Glenn Stewart in the Sea Eagles pack for the opening NRL game against the Broncos.
A revitalised Justin Horo is ready to step up if he gets the call from coach Geoff Toovey.
Horo believes moving to the northern beaches this season has been the best thing for his career.
"I am fresh and you feel you have to prove yourself again even though I played a fair few seasons at Parramatta," he said.
"I want to play well and achieve some of the goals I set for myself at Parramatta."
Horo has been thrown a lifeline by the Sea Eagles for 2013 when his career was in limbo.
"I was told I wasn't part of their plans in the next few years at Parramatta so I had to find a new club even though I still had another year left on my contract," Horo said.
New Sea Eagles assistant coach Brad Arthur was Eels' caretaker coach at the end of last year and put in a word for Horo.
With Stewart to miss at least the first six rounds due to a knee injury, Horo knows he has huge boots to fill.
"He has played for Australia, he has played for NSW and lot of what happens on that right edge goes through 'Gifty'," Horo said.

I've seen him play some excellent games for the slime and also some very ordinary ones aswell.
He'll nail down a regular 1st grade spot or at least the bench if he plays to his potential consistantly.
