Is DCE back Training ?

  • We had an issue with background services between march 10th and 15th or there about. This meant the payment services were not linking to automatic upgrades. If you paid for premium membership and are still seeing ads please let me know and the email you used against PayPal and I cam manually verify and upgrade your account.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether DCE is back training ? I would of expected him to back the same time as the Trbojevic's brothers and AFB ? Any info or pics ?

Thinking about DCE got me wondering about his contract. His cap hit would be very low given Marquee player, long standing player, vehicle/ education & 3rd party deals.

But if you look at him and our 5/8, I'm betting our halves combo would be one of the cheapest in the NRL, does anyone agree?

There are a few that are worth more I’d imagine.
Cleary/Maloney
Cronk/Kearey
Hunt/Widdop
Moses/Norman
To name a few.

That’s a good point Ryan. This year he would hit 8 years so his cap hit would come down by 200k if we used all of that allowance on him. As far as I’m aware there is no one else in our squad that qualifies for that allowance.

I’d still any day of the week and twice on Sunday prefer him on 1.1mil than Ben hunt for the same!

Yes, and Bozo stipulated DCE is our marquee player, meaning up to $600k of his contract can be paid (and arranged for / guaranteed by the club) by existing sponsors who want to use his services, within the rules and legally.

That's potentially $800k alone off the actual cap hit for DCE (including long serving tenured player), if the club has managed this extremely well.

That's not including, vehicle or educational dispensation (which would be more again, and I know he has a vehicle).

I personally think (cap wise), his hit is around $350k - $400k. Elgey would be on much less.

Therefore, his actual cap hit may be very, very low, so when people talk about the albatross of his contract, it would only be so if the club was tardy in the way it negotiated it.

That being said, it was being constructed over an age at the time. It wasn't done quickly, so I'd say he wouldn't count much at all. Then throw in Elgey, and we'd have a really cheap pair.

But with the exception of the long standing player allowance .... all those other allowances like Margue could be used for other players ... so you can't just say he only cost so and so .... for example that marque allowance could be paid to Kapow and we could then say he is only costing us x ....

fact is we can only spend the salary cap plus allowances .... how (and who) that is split up is academic ....​

Factor in the total minutes Chez has played each year since 2011.

Plays a full game each round and has very little injury and suspension time every season.

It would be interesting to see the calculation of $ per hour of game time played for players.:nerd:

sCam v Fiz for example, would have sCam look like an apprenticeship hourly rate :p
